So how DO you like your eggs?

Post by Super Laydock »

BF or any mod thinking this is to be seen as a provocation: please lock the topic and I won't moan.

Since I DO really like eggs I don't see any harm in ressurecting a banned topic subject. No spam intended here.

I love my eggs scrambled and preferably with ham and spices.

Hard boiled is good too.

Strictly talking about chicken eggs here though (not much exp with other ones).

*special mention to Shoe*: no ffing spam anymore please add I welcome you back.

special irc request: onions! (grilled so they don't make you smell bad)

I love deviled eggs the best. Omelets are a close second. Omelets with ham and lots and lots of cheese.

Fried, and really crispy round the edges. The viscosity of the yolk doesn't bother me. Not a big fan of scrambled. Boiled egg sandwich can be awesome. I also love that sweet omlette you get in Japanese restaurents.

There's a city farm near me that sells duck eggs. Only £1.30 for 6 as well. Might have to check that out.

well there is this farm not to far away with a couple hundred or so duckies.

I may just check it out too. A few people I know have said they like a duck-egg too. I like duckies more than chicken though so i'll have to come clean on this with myself. ;)

I particularly enjoy fried eggs with bacon for breakfast. Boiled eggs in various kinds of soups are tasty as well, like for example in sorrel soup :)

Have you heard anything regarding the taste? I have a feeling they'd taste richer, with a thicker white and yolk. I'm not basing this on anything other than a supposition, though

I like 'em with a bit of satire and a pinch of provocation.

They really are. I never even considered this, until my girlfriend demonstrated how to poach an egg in a bowl of ramen. By just cracking it into the boiling water. Now I'm hooked.

Deviled eggs are good, but a pain to make.

Nobody else is into the fried-egg sandwhich? Oh, man... I think I've decided what I'm eating for lunch.

Sunny-side up. I like to break open the yolk and spread it around on the egg white. Buttered toast tastes good when you use it to wipe up the remaining egg yolk too.

Over easy, cooked around a couple of pieces of bacon, laid across a 1/2lb burger, and then covered in maple syrup.

Guess my weight :D

The fried egg sandwich is truly God's Food.

I remember when my Granddad cooked me my first ever fried egg sandwich when I was tiny. It was a bright summers day, and I thought it sounded disgusting, so I declined, but for some reason he made me one, with lightly toasted olive bread and a big fuck-off squirt of tomato sauce. I remember being paticularly impressed with the way the yolk burst and poured all over the plate. It's pretty old fashioned here. You sometimes see them being served from time to time in greasy spoon cafes. Actually, 'egg butties' are basically the same thing and you can get them from grotty cafes everywhere. Yeah.

This is the correct answer: sunny-side up on toast, with pepper or chili powder if you are so inclined.

I usually break one open on a small plate, mix it up and put it in the microwave for a minute. Then it's a nice rubbery disc, which I peel off and slap onto a bagel or toast. Anything other than that is too much work.

Over easy on hash browns.

Combined on the same plate with chicken fried steak covered with a cream sausage &/or pepper gravy with a honkin' big, ice cold glass of 2% milk & buttered wheat toast on the side for cleaning the plate!

And if youve still got some room left, Bananas Foster is a nice touch...

I really like poached eggs on toast (buttered) with a fair amount of salt amd pepper.

Omelettes come in second place with me, again with salt and pepper with a little cheese.

Egg sandwiches are good but I find them a bit sickly.

Omelette, plenty of ham, onions, bell peppers, celery, and a dash of peppers if possible, really filling, awesome between bread.

Special note: pickled quail eggs, mmm mmm delicious, pickled with jalapeno peppers they taste great, but it's getting harder to find places that carry them.

"Over hard as a hockey puck". It is a-freaking-mazing how often places don't believe me. I have honestly told places "Look, the eggs that most people might send back as being *burned*? I'll probably be completely happy with those", and yet I'll *still* get yolks that are runny in the middle. It's quite maddening.

Desired sides: decently crispy (but not burnt) bacon, well-done hashbrowns (without much butter...none if it isn't necessary), I'm flexible on the type of toast but it *must* be toasted well, dry, and hopefully they'll have strawberry jam/jelly, unless it's cinnamon/raisin toast, which is fine without, and fresh fruit of some kind would be nice as well.

Mega bonus points if a fresh piece or two of fish is available, such as catfish. The fried catfish for breakfast available at Cracker Barrel is nothing shy of magnificent.

Or, a wonderful cheeseless frittata can be a great thing, too.
