Woah, you've got all the console releases worth playing. Nice.gigadrive32 wrote:Got mine a few hours ago. I put the figurine together and put it next to some of my other R-Type games, the ones I could get to quickly on my extended lunch break:
By no means a complete R-Type collection and my TurboGrafx-16, PC-Engine CD-ROM and SNES R-Type games haven't been unpacked yet, and won't be for some time.

It runs perfectly. One main problem though is that on stage 3 most of that stage enters the world of slowed down hell. Which, while it makes it easier, also makes it last an eternity and if you happen to run into anything, it takes that much longer to beat. Fortunately stage 5 isn't like that.Icarus wrote:That would depend on how good the emulation is. I'd rather have a decent port or 99% emulation quality than some shoddy bugridden attempt at running PS1 games on the PSP, especially for something like the divine R-Type Delta.Necronom wrote:@Icarus
As far as I know you can already play R-Type Delta on a PSP with a 1.5 firmware through emulation. I guess the R-Types compilation should also work.
Make use of what time you have so you die without regrets.

Well, I already spent my George Bush's money, so I kinda shouldn't splurge for a bitprofessor ganson wrote:Same here.Specineff wrote:Minzoku wrote:WANTNot to brag, but...Turrican wrote:WANT TOO

It took a little while to track down, but R-Type brings out the collector in me. That and Shiki 2.

Euro release date just got confirmed!
Here's the main bit of the press release I just got sent:
"Luton – 11th June 2008 – Rising Star Games is pleased to announce the release of R-Type Tactics for the Sony PSP. Available across Europe from September 26th 2008, this next instalment sees the classic brand reinvent itself as a tactical game, growing up with its fans throughout its 21 year legacy.
With a pedigree which includes a reputation for being one of the best side-scrolling shooters in gaming history, the R-Type franchise is considered to be a cult masterpiece of the shooter genre. Celebrating its 21st year since first appearing in Japanese gaming arcades in 1987, R-Type Tactics melds this classic brand with state-of-the-art tactical gameplay."

Usually, yes...only occasionaly we get some cool stuff, like Ico and Shadow of the Colossus with the art cards. And I have a PAL Sly Raccoon where instead of a case the game cd is "hidden" inside a book (the Thievious Racconius, which is related to the plot of the game) which doubles as the game's manual. Though I'm not sure if that's just a promo thing.Specineff wrote:Don't Euro gamers usually get shafted when it comes to special releases or trinkets like these?
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.
