[oversplice] -- a new STG by me -- teaser beta

Post by null1024 »

[copied straight from my post over at Shmup-Dev ]

Link: Updated May 6, '08.

(Demo has one beta-ish level right now)

oversplice is my new STG, and well, prepare for some speed. Speed will be one of the main themes of the game and backstory (which doesn't exist yet, but...)

Screenie:

Made in GM6 + Vista compatibility patch. (which explains the filesize...)

Current dev. time: 3.2 days.
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

It felt like a chore to play through. Way too much time between enemy waves, and the enemies themselves were boring to fight. Put more than 3.2 days worth of effort into it pls :S

Ok, will fix.

Explain more. I'll try to make them more interesting, but...

And you weren't mean. I wish more people would give more constructive criticsm like this.

PS:
(sorry for any spelling errors, I'm not on my WinXP box with Firefox with spell checker... I'm on a OS X 10.1 Mac... in Netscape...)

Well, it seems like alot of the enemies have way too much life. No-one likes getting rammed by enemies.

Most of them appear and fly off the same way. Only a few have shots besides 'shoot right at the player'. Some of them stop when they're 3/4 down the screen allready. Some of them shoot you right in the side, which is pretty annoying. Basically all I had to do was sweep across the screen to kill most of them.

Hmm... Ok, now I see what you mean. I used distance from your ship for all the enemy routines, but that causes too many problems, and also, almost all of my enemies are popcorn enemies... so that would be a problem...

Ok. Will fix. (on my XP box now...)
