Axelay Level 4 & Matrix 3 final scene over Machine city.

Post by ST Dragon »

After watching the last half an hour of Matrix 3 movie, I noticed its very similar to the 4th vertical mode 7 stage of Axelay, where you fly over the city with the cool lights & then you fight that huge orange colored witches-cone-hat, Mecha boss thing. It reminds me a lot of the last scene in Matrix 3 where they fly over the machines city & then they head towards the mountains & a similar Mecha (Sentinel) rises over the mountains & starts firing at them the same explosive missiles as the Axelay Boss!
Neo reflects them with his powers from his hand though... :D

Is this a coincidence or the animators of Matrix 3 were playing Axelay in their childhood?

By the way the ending in Matrix 3 sucked. Axelay was better! :D

Also if you complete Axelay in Hard mode for the second time it shows this:
"See you again at: Axelay 2"!?

It's a pity KONAMI Never made this!

Yep, I've been bitching about that for years.

I think that was the second vert stage, third stage overall.

Somebody made made a SuperGrafX Demo of that stage & the Boss to show-case its hardware capabilities.
The Rom is downloadable somewhere around the net....
I don't have the link anymore.

Wow, that is really interesting.

I remember several years ago theforce.net posted an interesting link showing a picture of a robot from an old Lucasarts game (SNES?) that looked almost exactly like the Droidekas.

Also, I swear, whoever J. Michael Straczynski told to make the final Vorlon art designs for Babylon 5 played Shockman for the TG-16. The aliens look just like vorlons, it's crazy.

Very good work.
