I have a pair of Birkenstocks. It's a good looking sandal and saves me a lot of sweat. My feet can get pretty smelly on a hot day in sneakers.

i agree particularly on men.

mind you last summer on the central line i saw a girl go barefoot , i mean WTF was she looking to cut her feet open and end up with some weird blood disease?

christ you spend 5 mins on the central line and end up with black snot for days.

i bet she is still cleaning her feet now, if she hasnt died from hepatitis that is

 I had to google....
They are my irritation #1 too.
The biggest turn off ever for me.
Just 10 minutes ago in the local super market, I saw a hot chick, nice legs, flip flops, and the beast was silenced once again.
Don't care if men wear them as long as men don't walk around naked I could give a rats behind about that.

Yeah why do people wear these in cities? flip flops are for the beach and the pool, if you want to wear sandals, get real sandals, they'll be more comfortable and you won't shuffle around like a crippled old man trying to keep them on your feet.

This is utterly popular around here, people use it all the time. We usually call them "havaianas" because it's the most famous brand that make this kind of footwear around here.

Or how about shirts worn without a tie but with the top button fastened?

Or how about shirts tucked into pants, but the pants have no belt, have you seen this?
And how about non-sporting black leather work shoes and white socks?
Win.
We should create a picture of the wrongest combinations
black shoes, white socks, shirt tucked in pants, shortsleeve shirt with bottom button fastened. :D

Thank your lucky stars that you don't live in Boulder, Colorado, then. Of course, there are numerous reasons not to live in Boulder, and this ranks fairly low amongst them, which should tell you something.

My next pair of shoes are going to be hemp shoes? Is looking like an asshole the cost of fair trade?

What's better than guys wearing flip-flops in the city is girls wearing flip-flops with their expensive formal wear (prom dresses, wedding gowns)

Bridal flip-flops = Klassy!

At least I've never seen a guy in a tuxedo with flip-flops on...

I went into town just now and there was a guy on the train in flip flops. I was attempting to use ESP to make one of them fall off down the gap between the train and the platform.

I was in town earlier today and my flipflop flew right off my foot while I was riding the train! Damn things really are worthless.

Agree with everyone else. Flip flops are atrocious, especially on men.

I do like Crocs, though... Those who don't never put them on!

They need to either "flip" or "flop."

I were flip-flops to work when I'm out of clean socks.

Flip-flops are called "slippers" in Hawaii. Maybe the climate changes their ability to flip and/or flop, so they just "slip" around.

I agree with the original post.

The only things worse than urban flip-floppers is urban barefootees. Blergh!

I would say Crocs are worse. No matter where they are worn, they make you look like a tool.

I'm not a big fan of crocs either. My boss has a pair of insulated ones, and for some reason they don't look so bad on him.

I don't really like flip-flops. I've seen whole sections in clothing stores devoted to flip-flops. I don't mean the shoe section, it's at the opposite end of the store. There's a shoe display across from our store at the mall that has a ton of them on display, so I asked this "popular" girl I work with how many pairs she has, and she said 10-15, because "Shoes look stupid with shorts".

The worst is when people play DDR barefoot, because they're wearing sandals. :(
