Accomplishments you're proud of / good things happening

Post by mirkvid »

After reading a super depressing topic http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?t=19999
I thought it would be cool to have a thread about good things in your life, especially non-shmup related accomplishments!

me: graduating from college in 2 weeks with a BS in Computer Science and a minor in Math!

also: got a new high score of 155,200 on my Donkey Kong arcade the other day!!

so what's good about life lately shmups.com-ers?

Well I'm done with school and heading back home for the summer. There's plenty of bad crap happening to overshadow that though.

Mostly small coding projects that have little impact or meaning beyond my own interests.

Oh and teaching some mathmatics to art students.

No, this game is not Space Invaders.

I once jumped off the roof of my parents' house when I was 15 and didn't break anything.

I just recently finished making my very own feature-length movie! I didn't have anyone help so I wrote it, shot it, edited it, did music for it, and play every single character. It's about this alien force called the Black Lord that comes from the Grey Giant (the star around which all the galaxies in the universe rotate). It comes to Earth and starts creating a cult of serial killers on a quest for world domination. It took me about a year to do so I'm pretty happy to be done.

The movie is called Shrineland and it'll be running on Chicago Public Access TV (Channel 19) in a month or so and half of it is on YouTube (if you care to watch), the rest is soon to follow. I'll be the first to admit though, it will test your patience...

Good for you. I know far too many people who couldn't hack it and dropped out. Now it's time for the real world (which isn't so bad, really).

Indeed college is very important to commit to if you feel that it in your best interest.

I'm about done with my Associates in art and science. 8)

That's not good. I dunno about you but I'm in class playing Sudoku/iPod Solitaire for 2-3 hours a day and doing whatever the hell I want the rest of the time, and I'm taking 18 credits. For a lazy bastard like myself it's easy to see why college is regarded as the nostalgic ideal

Moped's are fucking awesome to goof around with and they're good on gas so double win for you.

Me, I'm finishing my last classes in college in three weeks and graduating soon after. Can't wait.

I'm ready to take a big step in my life (for the second time) and I'm kinda excited about that.
What's even better is that I can foresee even the day when I'll have to go back and do it all over again.
But an exciting, yet a bit uncertain and frustrating, life is 3.000 times better than a boring and stable life, stuck in a place forrever. That's why I prefer portable consoles at the mo :P
Alas, Ikaruga is going...

Undesired, unwanted them...
What makes them go?

I just finished my arcade in the basement, I lost my job to get a new one that pays double for the same work but better, my 2 one-year-old girls are adorable, plus my wife, plus I'm the luckiest man in the world.

I'm graduating college in about 2 weeks and getting ready to start the next phase of my life. I have no fuckin' clue what I'm going to do, but I've got a great supportive family, a sweet girlfriend, good drinking/gaming buddies, and I live in beautiful Seattle, so I'm not too worried about the unforeseen future.

I'm getting back in shape. So much harder to do when you're a father, since being driven to alcohol is pretty much a given.

I think I have to agree with you here :(

That is pretty impressive. I've only lost about 14 kilos in the past 7 months =/ Another 14 or so though and I'll be pretty slim.

Note: I'm a silly American and I had to use a converter to figure out how much a kilo was =) For those of you too lazy to do the same and also don't know the metric system, Ladylock has lost about 132 pounds. Keep it up! (assuming you've got further you want to go, that is)

Haha, you know... For some reason I'd never actually read the name, and always read it as "ladylock." It wasn't until your post just now that I realized that is not correct =)

My apologies to Laydock.

I was accepted to the masters program in political science at University of New Hampshire. I still have two schools to hear back from yet.
