Is R-Type Final (new, sealed) worth $30?
I ask only because I happened upon it today in a WM with several copies for $30 each, and didn't buy it because I don't have a PS2, but probably will, eventually. Is it worth the $30 anyway? Should I grab it at all costs, since it's ultrasuperdupermegauber-rare or something?
I do like the original game and have played others in the series, liking them, for the most part. I also tend to like other R-Type-esque games like Last Resort, for example.

New copy sounds cool... but, I got a used copy for $8 as well... not sure how rare it is.

Yeah, the general consensus seems to be yours. Doesn't seem like it'll be unavailable anytime soon, either, so I'll just pass.Aquas wrote:New copy sounds cool... but, I got a used copy for $8 as well... not sure how rare it is.
Now watch: in two months, it'll be in the stratosphere.
Thanks for the wisdom, folks.

That's true. I guess the gist of my post was "Is this a low/fair/high price for this game at this time?" It appears that the price should be lower based on its prominent availability and such, so I'll probably pass for the time being, especially considering that I don't have a PS2 yet, and the fact that they have several copies in stock.E. But you're certainly correct: the value of a game is defined differently by different people at different times.

lol, I wouldn't even pay £2.50 for it. Although I think I only payed £2 for it. Cash Converters for the win! i also managed to pick up a cool Godhand promo for £3/$6 a few days after it came out and was 10x that amount in the stores. Best bargin I've managed to find so far from my local branch is guitar hero 2 with guitar for £10/$20. Even the bloke selling it to me looked surprised
But yeah, on topic, no.

Game Focus has really gone downhill recently, hasn't it? I used to love leafing through all the second hand jp PS2 games and the like, but there's just a tiny little corner for them now, sigh... Maybe it was just a bad patch.spadgy wrote:
Do you frequent the Rathebone branch? Good place. In fact just round the corner at Game focus they have Karous DC, Trigger Heart DC, and Trizeal DC (which I nabbed)

It's not very original to blame it, I think it's just the eBay effect... has been a little sparse there for a while....MX7 wrote:Game Focus has really gone downhill recently, hasn't it? Snag that new copy of USA region R-Type Final right away!
For boagman,
I put down a $5.00 USD reservation for a brand new copy of R-Type Final at my local Gamestop...when I finally got a call saying that it had finally came in. I went down there and bought it right away at the MSRP of $29.99 USD + tax. So yes, that is the correct USA debut of price of the American version of R-Type Final back in the day. Naturally, the price would be marked down as the months go on by to clear such expensive retail space of video games...that is a given.
By all means, I'd recommend that you just bite the bullet and snag a minty fresh & brand new copy of USA region R-Type Final at the $30 asking price and eventually get a slim PS2 console down the road...that way at the very least, you'll still have a new copy of R-Type Final and won't have to be scouring such game stores to see if they still have it in stock whether in new or used condition... ^_~
