Has Bee Storm gone already? I went in last night to have Progear laugh in my face, and had a dabble with Raiden, but was sad to see my chance to play DDP2 snubbed by a switched off machine...
Anyway, ill6 installed IBARA in Casino arcade tonight. I played a credit and the stick fell through the console when I reached Stage 5 with a max chain and 3 lives up top .
Hopefully they'll fix the stick back ASAP. It was my first credit on an Ibara board and I was surprised what a breeze it was compared with the speeding PS2 port.

I can feel the resentful ghost of Pink Sweets lingering in the Casino, with her mother -Ibara - avenging herself on me for the seemingly despotic unjustice I did to her daughter.
Sequence of emotions when I learnt that Pink Sweets was going to be succeeded by Ibara:
^At the moment a mini-summer meet would only have Ibara, Progear, Mush, RF Jet, Night Raid, Raiden II, Raiden III, Strikers 1945 & Plus.
A possible major Meet in the Winter would have more new boards, but we'll have to see how the arcade itself fares over the next few months.
The arcade needs Tekken 6 to survive, but will John buy it...?

You've been reading my mind! I was thinking only yesterday that it must be nearly time for a new thread for next meet. Surprised though that I was the person in mind to start it! Either I'm developing a reputation for posting too much, or I'm not hiding my eagerness to get involved very well!
Either way I'm really up for it, so if somebody hasn't beaten me to it, I'm doing it now. It's either that or move 2 feet to my left and get involved with my wife and her drunken mates doing a horrendous rendition of 'Papa Don't Preach' on SingStar. Christ they sound awful!

If Casino were to shut down, I'll have to cry myself to sleep at night for years. And buy a cab from them perhaps. I've developed a real fondness for those big, hulking Electrocoins...
... i will be in center london for very few hours friday afternoon 16th may (because of distance Stansted airport to re-join..) . as i dont know anything about town and centers of arcade interest.
do Trocadero & Casino arcades are close to join? walk? bus? metro? costs? would really like to visit arcade places and see some shmups
Just noticed you put Ibara 4th on your list DEL, had no idea you liked it so much. I've been playing it on and off for the last few weeks trying to get back into the swing of things with mediocre results so far.
freddie - I've never had the chance to play the Ibara board and the PS2 port with its non-existant slowdown kinda slowed me down from getting involved with it in the first place. But once my Supergun blew up, I fired up my PS2 and played the port for three weeks. The harder practice on the port will set me up nicely for the board. I breezed through the game on my first & only (interrupted) credit on the board. So I guess things will go ok on it.
Only managed to keep my max medal chain to the Last Boss once so far on the port. Also still need to get comfortable with the all important Stage 5 Boss patterns. Plus I'd like to see a vid of something high in the alphabet to get some scoring ideas. At the moment I'm clueless when it comes to bomb placement and getting the 1up from the ST4 midboss (I guess sides first then the middle, but its tricky due to those damn spinning Scythes ).
My scores are nothing special on the port (quite benign), I'm doing my usual thing and concentrating on distance and getting comfortable with the game.
Won't get to play the board for two weeks still...

The gap between her shots was probably the reason why I've bought Pink Sweets. It's such an awesome feature to have in a shmup! Are there any other shmups with gaps in shot?
Went in today. Pink Sweets has long gone and now Ibara has it's stick fixed!
Sat down at Progear of course, and either Ash had done an exceptionally thorough cleaning job this time or it has a new monitor. It was like playing on a new machine... excpet that you still can't see all of your gem counter...
Red Hots wrote:Don't you know you can shorten the gap by tapping the shot buttom rapidly?
but this also increases the rank and makes the game even more impossible, just because you cant really lower the rank again
Tapping button A rapidly wouldn't increase your rank noticeably. Only if you tap button B (option ships) rapidly will you increase the rank insanely. You can't get high score without raising the rank to an insane level. Raising the rank to an insane level in order to get the infinite lives early in the game and milk an insane amount of bullets during boss phases (plus some suicide technic) is excatly what Galford did to get the WR score with Shasta.

Tapping the A button does increase the rank as bad as tapping B does, but since you only need it for 2 seconds to raise your shot frequency it doesn't matter anyway. The real problem is that a having a higher shot frequency raises your rank constantly. Not much but very noticeably in later stages.

You can get around 13million points WITHOUT the infinite lives trick (with lace of course)

All the other WR scores were also done this way. Probably even the Score Attack WR.
if you figure some guys of shmups would be there friday afternoon 1pm-3pm (short time... stansted aiport is long distance :/) , i would be pleased to videotape things, discussions and ambiance ! (will have to find too Trocadero place which seems close)
if someone sees me (tall, green coat) , smile & play ^^
