Necronopticous now ranks 3rd on the normal ULTRA table and passed the 100,000,000 mark.

Rules
- Life stock, extends and difficulty settings on default.
- Rapid fire scores are kept in separate tables, except for the Arrange Mode table. Include rapid fire settings if you used rapid fire options on the PS2 version (A+ and C+ settings, known on the PS2 option screen as RAPID SHOT and RAPID FULLAUTO, respectively). If you used some kind of rapid fire setup to play on a PCB, just indicate so.
- No-rapid-fire tables : only use the stock buttons A (shot), B (bomb) and C (full auto).

Code: Select all

No-rapid-fire entry key : NAME SCORE STAGE (LxX for ALL scores) VERSION
Rapid fire entry key : NAME SCORE STAGE (LxX for ALL scores) [A+X, C+X]
If you cleared the game, LxX is the number of spare lives you had. For example, Lx0 indicates you cleared the game without any spare life.

I'm working on upping my score. I really need to find a better scoring strategy for stage 4. I'm getting a little better at keeping most of my counter from the mid-boss through the final half of the stage, but overall I still have a lot of trouble keeping a chain going and not bombing on those damn 6 bugs just before the mid-boss.

PROME Kenchan is twice in the orginal mode (no rapid fire) thread.

Ok, still havent QUITE killed that accursed nightmare boss, but I almost had the little bugger earlier. At least I can do all the OTHER parts previous to that without too much trouble now.

Also, I suppose I may as well post this since I took a picture. It's embarassingly low, but it's a start, I suppose. I've only recently started playing ULTRA seriously.

MANIAC MODE

MHK - 325,867,383- Stage 5 - PCB

http://wig.cave.co.jp/ranking2/ranking.php?mode=1
Rank 126

Died twice in stage 2, including once in the mid-boss. Died once in stage 3. Almost aborted the game out of frustration. Poor early stages compensated by no-miss-no-bomb stage 4 (apart from the 4 bombs used in the boss) and S-power stage 5 pre-mid-boss phase. Only managed to pick up 2 option ships after committing suicide just before the stage 5 mid-boss (costly error) and so low counter onwards.

My score just beat Toby's score by 467,597 points, or 0.144%.

Well done MHK~!

Some of you guys are pretty close to reaching top 3 in the maniac table. Don't forget to take a picture of the high score screen if you do beat 413,850,350.

By the way, is it possible to force the screen to display a score you haven't actually made on the PS2 version ? Like, in MAME for other games you could use savestates, or do a run with abnormal slowdown, and then take a screenshot of the high score board. Any way to do the same kind of stuff with Mushihimesama PS2 ?

action replay: http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.a ... oogleother

Someone would have to come up with codes for mushi, but its really not that hard to do.

That action replay thing works with mushihimesama ? Then the rule is worthless for this game as well. I'll remove it for now.

Isn't there something about a code given to you by the game when you end a run in Mushihimesama ? What does this code correspond to / what is its use ?

uuuuh, this is interesting. I'm very surprised there are so few really high scores in those rankings. And the world records don't seem to show, either. Is it because most people don't care and don't note their code / register their score on the ranking ?

Anyway, if that code appears on both the PCB and PS2 version, I could make it required for top 3 or top 5 scores to be registered on that internet ranking. That would be a simple rule assuring authenticity.

So does this code appear on both the PCB and PS2 versions ?

i believe so yes. if you look closely, you might find NEV and TWE (EOJ) on that site  i think it also ensures you're on default settings, we used to do something similar in the DOJ thread (people voluntarily put a photo up with internet code displayed: full default settings). before making a change like that though prometheus, maybe it's something to put to a vote? :)

uh well why not but the people who regularly play this game aren't very numerous here, and I guess it wouldn't be so easy to gather the votes of everyone concerned. Also I don't think it's much of a hassle to note the password if you made a high score, I always made inps for all my full runs for the same reason and recording a inp probably bothers one more than noting the password does.

I'll make a quick poll thread in the high score forum anyway.

vote here people

No code on the PS2 version, unfortunately.

Edit: oh, I'm late. Whatever. Nice topic there, lol.
