The end result- I want a sound system that is just insane for movies and games.

So- the question- as a trial I want to purchase one of these subs- then if I like it get another. By the reviews- do I go with what sounds like the more bass-y 15, or what sounds like cleaner, not so boomy 12? I had my heart set on the 15- but reading the reviews and such almost has me slightly changing my mind. (I.e. 90% 5 star for the 12, 72% 5 Star for the 15)

I would go with the 12" if it's supposed to sound better. That's still a respectable size for a subwoofer and you'll probably never max it out playing games anyway. However, I would consider upgrading your regular speakers instead of getting a sub. There's really no need for one if you're already getting enough displacement out of the others. I have two main sound systems in my house - one with some decent tower speakers and 18" woofers, the other with some custom built high-end speakers and 8" woofers. The first system certainly puts out more bass, but the second one sounds a lot punchier and is more than bassy enough to make you feel like you're not missing any frequencies.
