Shooting Game Historica Vol. 2 - Shmup Gashapon

Post by spadgy »

Anybody else picking this up?

http://www.shopncsx.com/shootinggamehistoricavol2.aspx

I just got emailed the link as I bought the first set

EDIT: Fantasy Zone looks awesome, and there's a little reference to Shooting Game Historica Vol. 4, which some of you might have already heard of, but it's ace to read that might be coming...

Got the e-mail as well and I placed my pre-order. Bit of surprising choices here, I didn't expect to see Star Blade (though the ship does look cool), much less Star Luster or Fantasy Zone in the series...especially Fantasy Zone, I thought the series wouldn't go towards the cute 'em ups. Maybe we'll see Michael from Parodius next...

Im all over that Ragnaroc w/ shadow force. Not too impressed by the rest though. Is that a chase figure down at the bottom? Anyone recognise the silhouette?
The biggest unanswered question is where is the money? [1CCS]

Definitely a chase figure - it's quite common to have chase figures/variants in trading figure sets these days. I'm surprised the first collection didn't have any, actually.

I actually came to ask about that ship too, so, uh, seconding the above request for ID. :D

Unfortunately, it should be noted that NCSX doesn't mention anything about including the chase ship in the set - they only say that they're shipping a "set of five." I'm holding off on a preorder until I'm 100% sure I can get a FULL set. I got burned buying a set of the first series from an online vendor that included 2 Silver Hawk color variants but not a Vic Viper...
I most definitely hate your favorite shooter.
For the sake of our own sanity, let's not even talk about Psikyo, Battle Garegga, or DDP DOJ with each other.

The one on the right behind the red 'Warning' text?

If so maybe Warning refers to boss, but it looks more like a player ship silhouette.

Some boss gashapons would be pretty cool, though. Would give our armada something to fight against.

Can't say I'm particularly impressed with the selection in this volume. I mean honestly - R-Type AGAIN! Poor show. Bosses would have been a great idea, as would the X-Multiply ship...

I loved volume 1 so naturally pre-ordered volume 2 from NCS. But I too want to make sure I get that chase figure...

Now if I can only find some time to actually play all the shmups I've collected. *sigh*

Yes - there's some really simple assembling (no glue), and they are kind of cheap and a little badly made (set one were anyway). However, they do look unpainted in the pic I must admit, so maybe...

I'd love a massive boss model to scale, that would be awesome!

If I recall, there was a similar promo pic of the first set that had pictures of the unpainted models as well, so I wouldn't worry.

Also while the ships don't technically require glue to be assembled, many of us who bought the first set had to use some anyway because some parts would just come off really easy otherwise. I had to glue in the landing gear (or whatever those are, the long sticks) in the Darius ship.

Quite right - I forgot to mention that, but in the end I glued about 75% of the parts in place on the first set...

And now you mention it, I too remember that set one 'unpainted' promo image...

It's very common practice for figure companies to show images of prototype (unpainted) sculpts when initially shopping for preorders. The final toys will be pre-painted.

I like where this series is going! If they're mixing in that obscure "Star Raiders" clone and Fantasy Zone, that just tells me they're really branching out and using some imagination! I mean there could be like 20+ volumes someday (depending on how successful they are). Distinguishing the Ragnarok is also showing some serious shmup-love; now you've got a possible 3 R-Type figures if you include that black one (Cerberus?) that came w/ "Tactics"; 4 if you count the red R9!

I'm in for a couple of sets of this one. It's by no means as epic as the first set, but I'm ready to participate and see how far it goes.

Would've been nice of Working Designs to have included this with their USA PSX release of Raystorm or offered as a special order premium instead of the odd-sized WD/Taito produced Raystorm poster (still a beauty to behold)... ^_~

Still nice to see it fully realized in three-dimensional plastic form -- tis better to have it come out now than never... ^_~

Will we see other ships/bosses from the RayForce/Raystorm/RayCrisis series in future Shmup Gashapon Vol. releases?

That latest pic got me searching, and sure enough, Shooting Game Historica 2 SP is now for preorder at ncsx.

More recolors and a secret ship. I wonder if it will be the secret ship seen in silhouette in the non-SP set? Doesn't look likely so there may be some ebay bidding wars coming down the road for the mystery items.

Its a chance around 50/50

If you order the box, then you will get at least 1 of each ship/colour type (as per the 1st SP set). The Japanese product description at YesAsia certainly seems to pertain to as much.

YesAsia now have their pre-orders open for the SP set:

http://www.yesasia.com/global/tfc-shoot ... /info.html

I ordered the first SP box from here, and they shipped from within the UK so no import taxes to pay if you live in the UK.

It would indeed be cool to see a Ray boss or two! The series has some of the most stylised, futuristic yet purpose-built war machines around (same goes for its player ships). I'd like to see Rayforce's second boss, that evil thing would be very interesting in three dimensions.

The secret ship is indeed by Compile. After searching around for a while with shoe, it's the Spriggan mk. 2, according to Yujin. Amiami have some nice pics. I want that r-gray....

I wish they'd just kept them all as ships. A mech sticks out like a sore thumb (unless it's from Side Arms of course!).
