Why have to deal with emulation issues when you can have the real thing and DO have the real thing? Why be a jerk when you can be a real fan?

If you own it, don't let it sit there and collect dust. No matter what the price. Play it!
Because the mame port is better!
A port <> the real thing
mame <> the real thing
the real thing > mame > port

Are you a real fan of the game or the people who ported that real game?
Don't play it because you own it. play the best there is.

Nice 'tache there D

I try to skip past most of the "which version is better" debate.

Why do you care about how other people play it? Why do you care about what people think about you playing a specific version?

I used to buy ports when I first got into shmups. Then I found myself just playing the MAME versions anyway, so I stopped buying ports of MAME'd games. Arrrrrrr.

usually i like to emulate the operating system on which i'm running the emulator as well... so for example, if i was going to play mushihimesama, instead of running the pcb, i would emulate the ps2 port, in pcsx2, in windows xp, which is being emulated by VMware in linux.

it's playable. really, it is!!!(lie!)

I am so sick of people whining over how to play a game correctly. No one cares if people use MAME, no one cares if people buy PCBs, and no one cares how you play with them.

Just play shmups and shut the fuck up.

Games are for kids anyway. I have more important responsibilities such as reading financial magazines and thinking of excuses to nuke those lesser brown-skinned humanoid creatures.

It should be noted that albeit rare, there have been instances where the port was (aguably) better than the original game, for instance due to additional game modes, improved controls and the like. Examples: Radiant Silvergun, Battle Garegga, DoDonPachi DaiOuJou.
