Your current Top 3 PC-Engine Shmups?

I wanted to start a new PC-Engine thread, so thought what better than a Forum members Top three PC Engine/TG-16 Shoot-em-ups, currently mine are:

1: Winds of Thunder (Super CD)
2: Soldier Blade (Hu-Card)
3: Ginga Fukei Densetsu Sapphire (Arcade CD)

be interested to see how many of you are playing the original titles or on Virtua Console..

Sapphire (the more I play it, the more I love it)
Rayxanber III (this game is seriously good!)
Final Blaster (my newest PCE acquisition)

My Top-3 ever:

Spriggan
Nexzr
Soldier Blade

And original hardware of course. VC is bullshit.

Never got to actually play Sapphire (despite owning it) or Rayxanber III (despite liking Rayxanber II). Need to go back and check those out one day.

It so happens that I only own three TG16 games and they are Aero Blasters, Blazing Lazers, and Soldier Blade. This thread makes me wonder if it would be worth it to get the CD add-on or a Duo, etc. sometime. How many good games are there on the CD format that can be had for $50 or less though? Sounds like a lot of them are rare and $$$

I used to drool over screenshots of PC Engine games in the UK C&VG magazine in the late 80s, but have never owned one. So it's with great glee that I now have access to a small slice of the console's back catalogue via my recently purchased Wii. Lords of Thunder is the only PC Engine shmup I've bought so far and I think it's great, especially the music. I love how shamelessly it apes the style of Saint Seiya.

I'm looking to buy a vert next, and based on people's lists here I'm guessing Soldier Blade is the one to get.

I also like Air Zonk very much.

Summer Carnival Nexzr Special - awesome, how come i didn't get this sooner

Lords of Thunder - i like this one more than gate of thunder overall. but every time i play them back to back, gate of thunder still plays better. life bars suck.

gradius - yeah i could play the arcade version, but this port is fuckin sweet. graveyard level for the win.
