Hi,
Does anyone know if the default harness that comes with the av7000 also supports cps2 kick buttons or if you still need the separate kick harness?
also for neo geo games will I need a separate harness for that?
Cps1 Street Fighter Clones?
Just trying to figure all this out. I just acquired an av7000 harness + 2 9000tb sticks and want to make sure I don't need anything else to start testing this setup (Thanks GaijinPunch!)
Also If I do need the dedicated kick harnesses, do you guys know any cheap places to acquire these other than random eBay search?
Sigma Av7000 jamma harness/kick harness questions.
Sigmas don't come with any Jamma harness by default. It all depends on the harness harness you receive. CPSI and CPSII use separate kick harnesses. You can just solder in 2 lines for the Neo-Geo 4th button; you don't need to (or rather, can't) use a kick harness.
Not sure if the AV7000 has the same fingerboard setup as the Raijin (GP would know) but it's possible you can just get this: http://www.neoamusement.com/product_inf ... anguage=en
The price is expensive (and a few games that ordinarily use kick harnesses may conflict with pins 25&26 when activated) but unless you plan to solder yourself (all the parts can be found <$30), you're not going to randomly find Jamma harnesses already attached to Sigma fingerboards anywhere.

Well I want to be able to swap out the boards I am using at will so I don't think I want to solder directly on to the neo board, not that I am afraid of the prospect since I've made my own ps2 sticks for a while now and am pretty comfortable with it.
It sounds like we need to wait and see what the harness I got can support before anything, I was hoping to do the research before it arrives but it seems like that won't work.

You're not soldering directly from the MVS to anything. You're soldering from the Jamma harness to the AV7000's fingerboard where the path looks like this:
MVS connector | ~~ | Jamma harness | ~~ | Sigma fingerboard | ~~ | AV7000 connector
The loom of wires starting from the fingerboard to the Jamma harness is what needs to be soldered. If you need a kick harness or more, you're soldering that to the fingerboard.
You can find all this info fairly easily on the web if you want more research. Otherwise, the Sigma will come with the fingerboard pinout so you know which points to solder the kick harness(es) to.

The harness you have coming is "pretty standard". As Ganelon said, Sigma doesn't make a harness. The people that sell the units do though. The one you have coming is from GFront. There's are shorter than Mak's, but have a service button. Mak has a longer one, but with no service button. I find the service button makes up for the short cables.
Generally everything on New Amusement is a massive rip off, as he just goes down to GFront, picks it up, and jacks he price up. I do something similar, but I think my finders fee is much nicer on your wallet and ass.
If you want a visual ,look at this one:

Your harness is the AV7000 fingerboard (green thing on the right) connected to a Jamma connector (blue thing on the far left) with all the wires connected. To play Jamma games, you simply plug one end into the AV7000, the other onto your Jamma compatible PCB.
I don't know how CPS1/2 games work as I've only played one, and it was 3-button.
And I guess for archiving purposes, here's the breakdown of the items:
AV7000: Comes with 5v thingy, 1 controller cable
9000TB: Comes with itself (no cable... you have to buy a 2nd cable for your second controller)
The harness comes with nothing, although most shops sell these in a bundled package if you have either the patience to deal with them, or the strength to lug that shit from Akihabara.
