Are there any differences between arcade versions? I have three, so I'm just wondering which version to use.

OMGWTF this is already the best tourney ever

Macaw, did you have 5 games preselected in your mind and actually made replacements, or did you bump future weeks up? I'm kinda pissed RayForce is this week since it's spring break and I'm back home and I wasn't going to spend it on this tourney. I think I'm going to skip playing this game all week and then play all day on Sunday and undoubtedly submit a shit score. :?

I dunno, I'm going to be spending time during the summer anyway improving my score and trying to get a good inp for the thread (and hopefully a 1cc), so I'm not really motivated to try for just one week anyway. :(

General version stuff:

This game is known as RayForce / Galactic Attack / Layer Section / Gunlock for maximum confusion. RayForce for arcade, Gunlock for overseas arcade, Layer Section for Saturn, Galactic Attack for overseas Saturn. So you have to pay attention to all the names when looking somewhere.

Randorama has a great guide in ST. FUKUDA and Ben Shinobi have vids on super-play (under Layer Section). If you really care about score, you want to do the suicide trick (in FUKUDA's vid) as soon as you start to power up your lasers and slow down your rank. You need to set the difficulty to at least hard 1 AFAIK.

Macaw, are we using all defaults or what?

20 minutes gives me this:

LGB - 441200 - Area 2 (Boss)

When he brought out the zako launchers and the 3 patterns he has, I panicked and explosions ensued.

*ME BEING A DICK* It's Ray Force. Look in the test menu. Gunlock is still Gunlock for some reason.
WESTERN ARCADE VERSION 'GUNLOCK' ALSO ALLOWED
*ME HAVING A DOUBT* I think the western version is alo called Ray Force. According to MAME, Gunlock is the World version (note that MAME also "mispelled" Ray Force in the first place).
- Lock-on System
- Collect excess power-up items for increasing values up to 10,000
- Destroy boss parts/enemies
*ME FIXING STUFF* Fixed, because that's why I die sometimes.

Inexplicably, I really am.

Anyway - looking forward to finally getting to play this one. I've had it for far too long without it getting a look-in.

I severely doubt that I'll be anywhere near beating this score by the end of the week. Macaw needs to stop pitting me against rivals that are better than me :x :? :(
