I got mine from a guy in California named Matsu. http://jpdeal.com/cabinet.html has a list of what he has now, I'm sure somebody else can give you his e-mail address.

Goddamn! You took the topic right out of my mouth! I was about to post the same question on this board! I live in the Orange County area in Southern California and candy cabs seem to be fairly common in arcades.100% serious i have no idea where to look
LOL! Seriously. There's no way I'm ordering a cabinet from coinop express. They are already overpriced it seems, and the shipping is hundreds of dollars.where are you from dude? this makes a huger fucking difference! Very Happy
I help a local retailer buddy of mine import them into Australia:

Of course, that doesn't help you, nor 99% of the posters on this forum.

I got my Egret II from Matsu (gamemachine2003@hotmail.com). I highly recommend him, as he was very friendly to deal with and walked me through the process. You should save a bundle on shipping within California, although the rate is still quite reasonable otherwise. I think it was under $200 to have my cab shipped to Washington.

Sounds like a good dealer. I would probably be able to haul a cabinet back using my friend's van. Does he have a website or a list of his cabs somewhere on these forums? If not, how much does he usually sell his cabs for?I got my Egret II from Matsu (gamemachine2003@hotmail.com). I didn't start going to Craigslist until recently, and when I did, I was shocked at all the stuff on there! I had been using The Recycler for all this time. Is it me, or does The Recycler actually suck?Socal is swimming in candy cabs. Probably just check your local craigslist, or contact Matsu who is also in LA.
Do arcades ever sell cabinets? I heard something about Arcade Infinity selling Sanwa parts a while back, but their website has been dead longer than Elvis.

If you mean the condition of them, I'm sure he will. If you mean in terms of what is different between the types of cabinets, they you really need to do more research first before you think about buying one. Otherwise you might not get the right kind of cabinet you need.Snapps wrote:Just curious to know if he'll explain the differences between the machines :/
Right. It's a bit hard to do research without someone guiding you or giving you info personally, you know? I know I want to buy one though.Gwyrgyn Blood wrote:If you mean the condition of them, I'm sure he will. Do a bit of searching on this and other arcade hardware forums and you should be able to dig up what you need. Killercabs has some good threads about cab specs in the Arcade Tech forum. Google in general is always your friend.
The main thing though is to know what kind of games you want to play on it. Low res, mid res, high res, and TATE vs Yoko. Those choices will heavily limit which cabs are or aren't good for you.

I was thinking about buying a Sega New Astro City myself. Can you rotate the monitor in that? I know the Egret II is famous for that, but I was wondering if it was possible in the Astro City, albeit harder. Also, are there any shmups or 2D fighters that require hi-res? I have a feeling questions like these deserve a new topic or even a sticky.
you can rotate the monitor in a astro or new astro, but not as easy as in a E2
New Astro and E2 have the same monitor (MS9)
Astro and Egret 29 have the same monitor (MS8)
there are a lot of high res 2d fighters.....on taito typeX, Naomi and Atomiswave...f.e FotNS, KKOF XI, NGBC, Chaos Breaker, Guilty gear, Arcana Heart (some of them can also be played in low res but they don't look good IMO)
and there are also some shmups in high res
Raiden 3+4, Giga Wing Gen, border down, under defeat, shiki 2,3.... but the typeX output also 720p IIRC (or only the X^2 ?) so it"s better to connect it to a LCD via VGA and use a supergun.........

Wow I didnt know this, and I was thinking of picking up a Type X for my Egret 2. I was under the impression that the main difference between an E2 and E3 was that the E3 monitor can support high resolution. Does anyone know what it would take to upgrade the E2 monitor to do the same?Radiant wrote:and there are also some shmups in high res

for the E2 you need a Wei-Ya C3129A chassis, but it is max 31khz, and it will not look as good as the orig. nanao in 15khz.......
for taito type x you "need" a Taito Vewlix cab...about 3000 Euro++
i mean you can play it on a 31khz cab but it's almost the same when u play a xbox 360/PS3 on a normal crt...i'm also not sure about 4:3 /16:9, IIRC older typex games have no prob with this, but new typeX^2 have prob with this
or as already said play it via a supergun on a HD LCD....

arcana heart is not expensive for an arcade game.... you can get a new boxed kit for 30-40K JPYBonemaster969 wrote:Crap, maybe I should wait till hi-res cabs come down in price. Arcana Heart was one of the games I really wanted. Too bad its so expensive.
and it is 31Khz so you can play it on a Egret 3, Atomiswave, blastcity...but it is 31khz only (no 15khz mode like Naomi or Atomiswave)

Re: where do you guys get your cabs
I rotated my new astro city today.
This is what is involved.
1) Unlock CP
2) Unscrew 2 screws at the back plate behind the cab just behind the light
3) Unscrew 3 screws with washers under the CP
4) Disconnect one of the molex connectors that wires the audio under the CP
5) Take off the bezel/speaker cover (quite heavy but still easy for one person)
I would recommend taking the cab and laying it on its back at this point. I would take out the light bulb too, but I couldn't figure out how it came out so left it in.
6) Unscrew the 4 big bolts around the perimeter of the monitor
7) Look for a molex connector going down inside of cab beside the monitor (Disconnect it)
Lift the monitor out and rotate it. I did this by myself.. The monitor on mine had protective metal bars behind it protecting the neck.
9) Rotate anti clockwise and resettle.
Then undo everything you've done. The molex connector that went to the monitor had to be released from the cable ties because in the vertical position the cable would not reach the monitor.
Took me one hour. And I would not recommend rotating it on a regular basis. Since I have 2 of them, its staying put now.
It would take you less time reading these instructions, since I've taken all the technical know how out of it. When I did it, I was undoing a lot of screws that were unnecessary and then doing them up again.
Hope this helps.
