The neverending cycle of reincarnation

Post by Zach Keene »

Well, I'll just keep this short. Due to Real Life[TM] sucking up all the time I used to spend indexing High Score threads, I've decided it's time to retire from being a moderator.

I would also like to welcome undamned and nZero, who have joined the mod team today.

(This does unfortunately leave the future of the Top 25 a bit uncertain at the moment. I've agreed to continue the number crunching, but it has yet to be decided who will maintain the threads and decide upon the "can I vote for X?" questions that invariably arise.)

Maybe I shouldn't have posted scores in the Gradius 1 and 2 high score threads then, otherwise this wouldn't have happened.

Nah I kid, sometimes life takes priority, do what you must.

Big thanks to Zach for huge service to the community up to this inevitable day... his valuable volunteer contributions will surely be missed. And congrats to both undamned and nZero on their new roles in maintaining the future of these forums :o

I've come by to say Thank you Zack Keene for the work and time you have put into the Shmups forum. Also a thank you for the guide from you and Wayne… I have found everlasting enjoyment in Zanac X Zanac :D

I wish you well in your endeavors!

Real Life™ has taken hold of myself as well as I am being away from the forum…

Also congratulations to the new moderators. Best of luck with your duties!

Until next…

Yeah, the Zanac X Zanac guide is simply the best one I've read for any game. Sorry to hear that you're moving on. I hope someone will take over the Zanac HS thread.

Thanks much for the work on the top 25 thingy as well. I enjoy it much every year.

Had to get a CV reference in there, eh? :) Anyway, Zach, your SOTN guide is still the best.

I thought it was a recap-related pun. :P

That is the plan, yes.

A new maintainer shouldn't be necessary, though I admit I have been neglecting my score threads lately. I fully intend to clean them up this weekend (and actually start using the thread subscription feature.)

Eh, it was mostly inspired by the Valkyrie Profile soundtrack I finally picked up a few weeks ago, but whatever works. :)

Oh, I almost forgot. I know this sounds extremely asshole-ish and selfish, but who do I report to for indexing now?

incognoscente seems to have taken over the High Score index, but the Strategy index still says to PM me (which won't do any good, since I can't edit it any longer.) So I guess for now you just bug your favorite mod until that gets sorted out.

I'd be willing to do whatever I can (which may be limited as I'm not a mod). I'm on sabbatical leave and have a bit more spare time than usual.

I missed out on this earlier since I rarely ever check OT. I just want to say thanks for all the hard work and your great guides, and the top 25 you compile was the first thread I saw on this site. 8)

Also I am the only other person here who is enough of a VP freak to immediately know what song you referenced after seeing the topic title. It's a great choice and I'm listening to it again right now and it really fits. Good luck in life.

Cheers Zach! Best of success in future endeavors.

Although I wonder, what happens to the boards Zach specifically maintains in the HS section, and the general HS area maintenance. Who then takes over responsibilities?

Zach's mod duties have been transferred to other people. See incognoscente's post above for more info.

As for Zach's high-score threads...it's not like he's quitting the forum, he can still maintain those just fine. Giving them to someone else to look after is up to him.
