spadgy wrote:With Wii's VC options and coming Milestone stuff and the likes, it's certainly worth getting for shmups as new-gen consoles go. However, those staggering sales mentioned above in comparison to the PS2 at the same time only really show Nintendo's marketing skill and the Wii's success as a manistream/casual machine. It's selling to whole new groups of people who would never have normally bought a console, who'll likely be playing crappy family quiz games and throwaway minigame compilations. So don't let the hype and sales let you think it's the new PS2. Sure it's the new mainstream machine, but it's not necerserily the for the same audience/consumer as the PS2.

However, for me Super Mario Galaxy, Zelda, Excite Truck etc. added to the VC shmup list make it worth every penny dozens of times over.

Despite it's slow start and problems, I'm still tempted to put money on the PS3 eventually emerging victorious. Maybe... though for shmups... not so sure.
My GIRLFRIEND is thinking about buying a Wii. This speaks a lot about this.

I've got Chaos Field on the GC, and I don't like it too much either. But that won't stop me from getting this set.

I've got Chaos Field on my Gamecube and I love it. It's one of my favorite Gamecube games, in fact.
Of course, that's just an opinion.

I wonder if these will just be bare-bones ports or have any of the extras like Chaos Field's original mode or manpuku mode in Radirgy. Karous hasn't had any ports with extras in it yet, has it?

Can anyone tell me what the exact title of this collection is in Japanese and English? It's being released March 27th, right?

I'm not sure if this is worth it. I've never played Karous, although I've always wanted to. I guess I should make use of my Classic Controller.. it's such an unloved device.

i know there's a manpuku mode in the GC port and an okawari mode in the PS2 port, but if you found a danmaku mode in a Radirgy port then please enlighted me. ^___^

also, i dig Chaos Field and what i played of Karous. and their soundtracks. Kou Hayashi is right up there with the best composers Cave has had over the years if you ask me. i don't have a wii yet, but with Karous and Shiki 3 and Yukinko Daisenpuu on there i'm starting to need one alright...

The only thing that would make me happier right now is that if they announce an artbook for the US release. A fine way for O3 to make up for the loss of the GC release.

no doubt caves music is poor in general milestones music production is impressive on its own let alone on a game .

O3 Entertainment's website appears to be down. I hope this isn't a bad sign.

I can see why some people might not like Milestone's style..... same with how I can see why they might not like Cave or Psikyo, despite my fanboy-ism towards both..... but I myself am liking what I've played from them so far.

I recently got Radirgy on PS2 (a purely lucky find), and I've been enjoying it greatly. I think my ONLY problem with that game is it's possible for me to get sucked into the scoring, so that Im looking for bullets that I can hit with the sword to get the blue pills, and then forgetting about the ones I CANT hit, thus crashing into them.

But I do like it. Makes me wanna try the other 2.

Im looking to get the stupid Wii soon here (Brawl and Geometry Wars), so I think I'll pick this up if I can as well. If it releases here, that is, or if there's a way to play imports on the thing.....

Once again, can anyone tell me what the exact title of this collection is in Japanese and English? It's being released March 27th, right? I'd really like to update the GameFAQs info on it already.

Is there a region free disc or other device available for the Wii? I'm very interested in picking this up, but I will not buy a Japanese Wii to play it.

I want this, quite a bit. Mainly for Radirgy. I played Chaos Feild, and it was kind of "meh". Good for a few minutes but nothing great. I was looking forward to the US release of Radirgy, but of course, that never came to be. I just hope this one comes out here, an art book would be nice too.

I'm interested in this collection as well. I hope it gets a release in the states. Was bummed when the US Radirgy was canceled.

that is exactly what most people used the ps2 for, shitty spiro games, who wants to be a millionaire and that crappy sims port. its just the teenage boys also used it for GTA

My interest in these games runs the full gamut from 'dislike' to 'disinterested' but I'll probably end up getting it anyway.

At least I have a wii, so I'll be able to play it (unlike Raiden Fighters)

I've decided against it. I didn't like Radilgy nor Chaos Field, unfortunately.

I guess music splits into opinion of taste and technical appreciation.

I technically appreciate the fact that you have no taste.
