I 1cc'd Astro Warrior!-I think....

Post by dave4shmups »

I beat all 3 stages in this SMS shmup on one credit, but then the game just started over again, without any ending-credits or otherwise. How long does it loop before you finally beat it??

Infinitely, as far as I know.

Although it might end after the eighth loop. A lot of the simpler early Sega Master System games did that back then (Hang On for example). But since the difficulty level of Astro Warrior doesn't increase with each loop, I only looped it five times once and then got bored, so I simply switched it off.

Wow, five loops! I noticed more bullets out of the first boss, on the second loop, and that's where I ate it.

You're great...a difficult game. I recently purchased it and after 15 years since last playing it....I suck.

When you say 1cc'd, do you mean you completed it without dying once or that you did it without using a continue (but maybe died once or twice)???

Astro Warrior was great... that it was restricted to 3 levels seems likely to be due to the space limitations of early SMS game cards/carts. Imagine the possibilities if Sega had used one of the SMS's later large capacity 4-Mega or 8-Mega cartridges. I would have loved to see an epic 12 stage version of that game. btw the game definitely gets much harder once it loops for the first time.

Astro Warrior... one of my first shoot'em ups! The music of the first stage is memorable.
I'll try to buy this game with R-Type on the next time that I go to the central area of my city.

I died, but I know I didn't use any continues.

EDIT, is Transbot the same, in terms of looping? I still haven't gotten to the game's boss yet.

Transbot loops forever, plus it is far easier than Astro Warrior. Actually, Transbot is one of the most incredibly boring games I've ever owned... (but my game library was small back then, so I played it anyway :) )
