Let's face it, the PAL PS2 Strikers port is embarrasing. I just saw the J-NTSC version going cheap in a local store. Is it the same port? I have the first strikers on my Saturn, so just wondered how good the port of 1945 II is, and if it has tate mode.
Talking of Strikers, I was just reading a fairly new Star Trek comic, and Riker creates a holodeck program where he flies some very familiar looking WWII planes. Then he save's his program as 'Riker's 1944'. A sneaky shmup reference maybe? Or is it spelt Ryker? That makes it seem less likely.
Tate mode in Japanese Strikers 1945 II PS2?

Game Focus, right? That was my copy that I sold in the other dayspadgy wrote:I just saw the J-NTSC version going cheap in a local store. Is it the same port?
It's a decent enough conversion, except for the same issue that plagues almost all 2D PS2 games -- upscaled graphics instead of true low-res mode. Oh, and it doesn't actually have a save file, so I hope you've got a pen and paper handy...

Just get the Japanese Strikers 1945 II for PS1: Tate and lo-res and score saving. And yes, the PS1 version is better than the Saturn port, which suffers from severe slow down.
BTW, this has to be the 784th time someone asked that question, and it's among the "Topics to Avoid" in the forum FAQ.

The USA Agetech version of Strikers 1945 has the Tate option removed and saving option to memory card is present but one has to manually save it each time -- a bit cumbersome but worth it for posterity... ^_~
There was speculation that with a hacked up Gameshark code, that one could enable such "unlocked" Tate option in the Agetech release of Strikers 1945 but that remains to be seen if it can actually work...
Just pick up a copy of Psikyo's 1st printing run of Strikers 1945 II import for the PSX platform & you'll not be disppointed at all with the proper true low-resolution at 15.7kHz RGB output... ^_~

Thanks Ceph. That's the cheapest and easiest to pick up too.Ceph wrote:Just get the Japanese Strikers 1945 II for PS1: Tate and lo-res and score saving. And yes, the PS1 version is better than the Saturn port, which suffers from severe slow down.

Was it my question that was wrong, or Nimitz's about 'how good is the PS2 port of Strikers'. I only ask cause I don't want to make the same mistake again and couldn't see anything about Tateing in the very reasonable Topics to avoid section. If it wasn't clear enough, this new thread was specifically about tate as an option in the specific port. That's all I wanted to know.
Actually - looking more closely I see the fact that this thread is kind of a 'which port is better thread! Sorry to break any forum rules! I'll be more careful next time!
