Futari 1.5 or black label - which to buy??

I have the option of buying either - money is no object.

I would appreciate any thoughts on gameplay etc.

1.5 if you really like it and feel you would think the BL differencies warrant the higher price then sell it off and buy that instead (or both, as i understand theyre different enough?)

both are good, but i prefer BL....
you only need both if you collect this shit, otherwise the diff is not big enough for owning both (IMO)

If money is not a factor I would go with BL, purely because you stand a chance of beating god mode, but as I understand it Ultra is pretty much impossible.

I’ve not played either right enough

Personnaly I like Mushis for their Ultra modes that really kick your ass, so I chose 1.5

1.5 and BL play very differently. BL has a single, powerful shot type for each character (in 1.5 you have two shot types for each character, but neither is as strong as the character's BL shot type), boss fights have faster patterns, the whole multiplier system works differently in Maniac mode (multipliers carry over from stage to stage, your multiplier increases not only when you collect gems but also when you just chain enemies - much like Mushi 1, etc), Original mode plays almost completely different, etc. Enemy layout is very different in *every* level as well. They feel almost like two completely different games.

God mode is a lot of fun with its screen-breaking x30,000 multipliers and 2-5bil high scores, and a lot less "impossible" compared to 1.5's Ultra mode. It also has a new true last boss called "Spiritual Larsa". Original mode was made more "ketsui-ish" in BL, but it's also a lot harder to get a good score due to this. I'm not sure which Maniac mode I prefer, but it may be 1.5's.

Both are great and essential games IMO.

I'd get BL if money is no object, as it will be very hard to find soon. 1.5 will be easy to find used for a long time, and it's 1/2~1/3 of the price of a BL kit.

At the same time though I would like to buy something that will at least hold its value. I know for sure that futari 1.5 will drop by half its value by July next year but there is a chance that black label won't right?

How have the other BLs kept their value (I read one post that Ibara dropped a lot in value??). Do you think futari will be different / similar?

Again, thoughts appreciated as always.

it's simple...if it gets a re-release like Ibara BL it will drop, if not it will not drop much.....(i think it will get a re-release)

Actually, it is much more likely to hold its value or increase in value. No port, and it's a very popular game. You won't be seeing $500 kits next July.

DDP:DOJ BL kits have held the best value, selling for more now than what they retailed for new. Ibara BL kits dropped about 1/2 of their value. This is due to two factors: 1)The game was not terribly popular and 2)They made more than one print of it.

Futari BL should hold its value well, as the game is exceedingly popular in Japan right now. Only 150 were made, and it looks like nearly all of those have been purchased already. Only a few remain in the shops. If Cave were to re-release it, it would lose some of its value. Unlike Radiant, I don't think they'll be doing this. Cave had a big "Limited edition of only 150 PCBs!" plastered at the top of the flier when they were advertising the game. They never did that with Ibara BL (they never explicitly stated the production run anywhere for Ibara BL- it was all assumptions and hype from distributors).

actually Ibara BL stayed at retail ~JPY120000 even after the re-release.

however on yahoo and here on the forums they go for a little less.

Honestly, if money is no object then you shouldn't care about the value etc...
Just buy something you'll truly enjoy/play.
Also if you keep your game for life, value will never drop
