Ninja Warriors Again!

Post by ST Dragon »

I just completed Ninja Warriors Again on the SNES by Natsume.
That was one cool platform Beat Em Up, which felt more like an arcade game.
Awesome Bosses, Graphics & gameplay, it can’t get any better than this really. A perfect example of the arcade quality graphics & gameplay the SNES can boast, when Natsume puts their hands on it.
This was a huge improvement compared to the old Arcade & PCE version or the weak SEGA CD version, with its poor 64colours palette.

The big Ninja Android is the best of the 3 androids imo. He kicks some serious ass! He can beat the robots that shoot lasers from their eyes, by just grabbing them & throwing them around!

Natsume along with Capcom & Konami, are the best when it comes to these types of games.
Shadow of the Ninja on the NES, is another fine example that even surpasses the Ninja Gaiden series in some aspects.
They’ve also made Wild Guns…

So anybody else liked Ninja Warriors Again?
What other similar games are there by Natsume?

Damn. Pity they had to soil the memory of the original Ninja Warriors with yet another Nintendo platform "pick a game and make it something different instead" hatchet job.

Dude this was one of my top 5 favorite games on SNES. And you're making me want to get a SNES of my own. I leeched off my friends console when he wasn't playing it back then cause I was a poor mofo. :(

Ha, so it was called The Ninjawarriors Again in Japan? In America, it was just The Ninjawarriors.

Never played the arcade original or SCD ver, but the SNES game is great. My favorite character to use was the one with the scythes (botto right in the box art) cos he was totally badass. Kuniochi was my second fave; the big fella was damn near useless most of the time.

I hated that last boss, it took me forever to kill him.

I didn't rate this game at all. I thought it was crap compared to the original. Stiff controls, and just not "Ninja Warriors". The MCD port was actually pretty good.

I liked it more than the original was well. Never played any of the other ports of it, though...

Nice to see someone else who favored the big motherfucker. He was just a supreme ass kicker. Good times...good times...

If you dug Shadow of the Ninja, you should probably check out Shatterhand (NES, Natsume) and Batman (NES, Sunsoft)

If you used the Big Ninja Android you could beat the last boss very easily using his grab move. You just grab the bastids & throw them at the glass where the Boss is standing.

Yeah Batman 1 by Sunsoft on the NES is one of the best all time platform games on any system.
I completed Shadow of The Ninja 13 years ago on my old NES. Good times.

Ninja Gaiden 2 & 3 by Tecmo were also very cool games.

It's interesting that Batman Revenge of The Joker (NES) is better than both the Genesis & SNES ports, as far as gameplay & level design. The Genesis looked worse in most levels!

I only found out about Shatterhand last year when I accidently played the ROM on VirtuaNES. Very good games.

I recently bought Wild Guns for my SNES. Very good point & Click Shooter by Natsume iwth Arcade quality graphics.
Seriously the SNES can pack some awesome graphics, than can even rival the All mighty NEOGEO in some cases.
Compare Wild Guns to NAM 1975 for example...

Indeed, everyone should check this game out.
Probably the best BAtman game ever.

As far as Ninja Warriors goes, the arcade original had a wide screen monitor.

Also: the amiga conversion is VERY good!

Batman the movie on the Amiga was awesome. I never forget that stage 2 in the car swinging around the lamp posts with the bat hook.
This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

Mutant Boss was the Boss before the Final Boss.
You fight him in a Lab as you descend in an elevator.
A lot of Bastids come to support him.
I found him hard.

He's nothing special to remember really. He wouldn't be that hard if he was by him self.

I found this game a lot more enjoyable than Final Fight 2 & 3 which I found quite boring to complete.

That scene in level 4 where the tank rolls back in the background is so cool.

If it was a perspective beat em up like Final Fight series & Streets of Rage rather than platform beat em up like Altered Beast, it would have ruled totally!

I agree and it also needed a 2 player option 8)

I do like the original though

Ninja Warriors has an OST?! Interesting...
Does it feature remixes from the SNES version or the ones from the original Arcade/Genesis CD/PCE versions?

The SNES music was totally different to the rest & much better to listen to.
Definitely one of the game's strong points.

I just shelled out for the Japanese version of this game a couple weeks ago, and I'm not disappointed. Haven't beat it yet though, it's harder than I was expecting.

I didn't realize this was developed by Natsume, but it's good to hear. Their SFC output was all quality stuff. Still trying to get their Kiki Kaikai games - so hard to find them, dammit!

Agreed. I love the SNES Ninja Warriors much more than the arcade game and its ports. Fantastic soundtrack for the time too. If you had any imagination at all then you were actually playing through some badass eighties manga/anime when you were playing those early SNES games. Animation is a little choppy on the enemies but the overall colors and everything are great.

I remember when the preview screenshots first came out in magazines next to the Final Fight port also and being blown away at what the SNES would be capable of. I remember in an old preview article it was stated that they made the game totally different because on the older systems, it was enough just to port it, but that it wouldn't be using as much SNES power, and that it loses something without the three screens anyway (this I agree with).

Man I loved those multi-screen arcade games to death. X-Men, Warrior Blade: Rastan Saga 3, Darius series, Ninja Warriors, any other great ones?

Ninja Warriors Again, hehee.

Also yeah, if it had coop it would be one of my favorite games on the system.

this game is actually very different to the original, plays more like Final Fight cos you can grab enemies and throw them etc, whereas the original was a simple "walk, slash, walk" affair (cool in a different, more minimalistic way) and the soundtrack to the original is just awesome

both are classics IMO

btw UNDAMNED, where did you get your Ninja Warriors soundtrack? ive been looking for one of these for a while?
