DoDonPachi works on my PSP, I had to create the rip myself though - the various ones floating around the net only work on older versions of POPS. (If it's got a seperate keys.bin, you have an older rip).
What is a pain though is that the official emulator doesn't support fully remappable controls, just a few different schemes. So you're stuck with tate mode being unplayable.
The CPS1, 2, and MVS emulators support tate *perfectly*, remapping the controls automatically if you turn Rotate off in the options of a vertical game.

Salamander Portable is another must have. Received it this week and am loving it, especially my first time with Xexex and MSX Gradius 2 with smoothed out scrolling.
Capcom Classics Remixed has Varth and 1941. Even better, Digital Eclipse put in full button remapping so you can set shoot and bomb to the analog stick when playing in TATE!
Shame that this sort of simple option was not used for Star Soldier PSP, you'd think it'd be a no brainer.
CPS2 emulator is also amazing. My jaw dropped the first time I saw Progear blazing in full speed. I just need to upgrade from my filled 2 gig stick so I can get into PSX emu.

The word shump is a real "victim of coicumstance" as Curly would say.BulletMagnet wrote:Possibly what occurs when Shemp from the Three Stooges plays a shmup?stuntman wrote:Shump = ???

Re: PSP Shumps:
Question about Emulator stuff for the PSP...Hentai wrote:I have a dreamcast and love the hell outta it, but I can't carry it around. Fast forward a few years, and now I bought a PS2 and a PSP. I carry around my PSP all the time, and its a Slim, love it and all, but I don't know any good shumps for it. The gradius collection sucks IMO and I have a CPS2 emulator on it so far for the shumps. However, I am always looking for new shumps, and I would appreciate it if anyone could point me in the direction of some good shumps for psp, emulated or not. Money is not an issue. I would rather not get one of those 3D shooters tho. Thanks.
Mine says that I can also get some PS1 stuff emulated on it, but I have no
idea how to activate it. 2nd off, I'm having problems trying to get the PSP to
connect to my router (now asking for some freak-code that the CPUs are too
stupid to take.)

Anyone who believes what they saw at Namco Central about ME is seriously far stupider than he/she looks...

At least for me tate works perfectly in Dodonpachi if you choose from DDP options TATE(YOKO) mode. I play on the analog nub though, I can't stand the PSP d-padcools wrote:DoDonPachi works on my PSP, I had to create the rip myself though - the various ones floating around the net only work on older versions of POPS. Yes, tate mode in DDP is a must. I also recommend this dpad mod if the analog nub cramps your thumb as much as it does mine. I modded my dpad according to that guide and psp shmups are much more playable now.rantak wrote:At least for me tate works perfectly in Dodonpachi if you choose from DDP options TATE(YOKO) mode. No...but you can on Ebay.
Well, i'm not overly keen on the art Style of PI2 compared to PI1, but there was no excuse for Last Resort really. Hell, hunt them all down. Chances are if you get the Neo Geo Emu you'll grab a rom pack anyway. But what of the Last Resort and Prehistoric Isle 2 lack of stars?

The slim doesn't suffer from the D-pad problem. Although their nub is quite annoying. When I had a fat, I took out the nub top and put a few pieces of paper into the hole to make it more comfortable, so it was raised more. That mm made all the difference. Sadly the slim's nub isn't replaceable, unless I void the warrenty. I might actually do that, but I don't feel comfortable doing that quite yet. There is dust under my screen already, but I'm afraid that opening it up will open it up to more dust.

I use one of Hori's crystal liquid filters on my PSP, it misses a couple mm's on the screen, but you can only tell if you look for it, but otherwise it does a great job protecting the screen and the protecting screen itself doesnt get scratched, however smudges like the PSP also does. I recommend it. I don't have to worry about the screen ever anymore, except when I smudge it with my hand oils and such.Hentai wrote:There is dust under my screen already, but I'm afraid that opening it up will open it up to more dust.
I have Twinbee, Salamander and Gradius Portables and they're all pretty excellent in their own way. Xexex looks beautiful on the PSP's screen, been trying it out a bit lately. And everything emulates perfectly (as far as I'm aware.) The music gallery's are present on every one of the portables, as well, which is cool. The collection of Twinbee games is pretty nice, too. As a new fan of the series, I gotta say they're pretty cool. It also includes a Twinbee game from 2007 with featured Maoi heads! Wooo. It's also pretty easy to 1cc, and it was my first 1cc.
The slim's d-pad is pretty decent, I guess. I haven't used the older PSP at all, so...
Good gamin'!

I got a screen protector too, but the problem is that mines actually has the dust inside of it. Its under the screen, and i was confused at first, but its not made of materials as good as the fat anymore...Aquas wrote:I use one of Hori's crystal liquid filters on my PSP, it misses a couple mm's on the screen, but you can only tell if you look for it, but otherwise it does a great job protecting the screen and the protecting screen itself doesnt get scratched, however smudges like the PSP also does. Too bad that Stainless Games didn't do that with Centipede or Tempest on Atari Classics Evolved. Oh, and i also have a SNES emu on my PSP, and it works perfectly.Dylan1CC wrote: Capcom Classics Remixed has Varth and 1941. Good! Oh, i recently got a Genesis emu for my PS2 with tons of games like Thunder Force (2, 3 and 4), Gunstar Heroes, Trouble Shooter and many more.dmauro wrote:For anyone that doesn't know, you can get psx rips of DonPachi, DoDonPachi, and Einhander that have the music removed (they still have sound effects), which makes them about 15 - 20 MB in size. You could even fit them on the default memory stick that your PSP comes with.

Add Platypus to that list.genetik wrote:As for official PSP releases (excluding Gradius), there's the following:
Parodius Portable (JPN, Best Version) $29.90
Twinbee Portable (JPN) $39.90
Twinbee Portable (Asia) $24.90
Salamander Portable (Asia) $19.90
Salamander Portable (JPN) $39.90
Sengoku Cannon: Sengoku Ace Episode III (JPN) $52.90
Sengoku Cannon: Sengoku Ace Episode III (Korea) $49.90
Star Soldier (JPN) $37.99
Obvisouly, emulation offers a much wider selection, but I really like the Twinbee, Parodius and Salamander collection. The Star Soldier is nice too, but you should take a pass on the Sengoku Cannon.

Thank you, I'll give that a try tonight. DonPachi is good, but I miss DDP.Thunder Force wrote:See this thread for instructions on making it work:Squirrel wrote:Grrrr, DDP isn't working on the psp, it just locks up at the Please Wait screen.
