Hi All
I'm really hoping somebody can help me here as i'm getting very frustrated!!
I finally downgraded my PSP to 1.5 using the lumines method which all worked fine.
So i rushed to download the CPS2 emulator so I could play progear. I've tried both of the latest 1.5 kernel versions and i've followed the instructions on the QJ forum but no matter what I do it won't work.
I've created cache and rom folders and converted the roms and copied the rom and the cache file into the respective folders but each time i run the emulator it just errors saying 'Game could not run'.
Should I upgrade to a higher custom firmware and try that?? If I do will it run everything that 1.5 should run?
Can someone please help me i'm overwhelmed by all of the stuff online and can't seem to find the help I need.
Thanks guys.
Paul

The whole point of custom firmware is that it'll let you have all the features of the latest decrypted firmware while keeping your 1.50 homebrew functionality. In fact, there's really no reason to stay at 1.50 anymore.
Starting with firmware 3.71, Sony changed around some stuff so homebrew wouldn't work as well (or something?) and developers had to port their stuff to the 3.XX kernel. So now you'll often see 1.50 versions and 3.XX versions of the same homebrew, such as the CPS & Neo Geo emulators by NJ.
What firmware do you have right now?
3.52 M33-4 is considered very stable, and very few games outside of Wipeout Pulse require higher firmware.
3.71 M33-4 is actually pretty stable too; I've had no complaints. The 1.50 kernel has to be installed separately.
3.80 M33-4 is the latest firmware, but I'd stick with 3.71 M33-4 because there are still a few bugs to work out (like setting your CPU speed to 333).
The GameFAQs board has been surprisingly helpful. Check the stickies:

The 3.80 is now up to 5. I think you need to install the kyexploit or something. Create a pandora battery in case you fuck up with it, and then download Desperar Del Cementario to dump your firmware. Read the instructions and then make a cemetary stick. After making a NAND backup, go and start installing M33's 3.71-2, and then download the 4th update. After that format your stick so it will have the proper directories and put the CPS2 emulator in either game or game370 in ms0:PSP/GAME. Enjoy your CPS2 emulator!

NJ's CPS2PSP emu v1.66 is very last emu for fw1.50 PSP...
I downloaded NJ's CPS2PSP version 1.66 for use with firmware 1.50 PSP -- it works like a charm. This particular version is regarded as the very last release for such fw 1.50 enabled PSPs.
The CPS2 rom of Progear No Arashi works without any problems with the above listed PSP emulator... ^_~
However, it's recommended that you start off with a clean CPS2PSP emulator install and have not installed roms or cache files yet in their respective folders (in order for the PSP to properly set up the CPS2PSP folders upon intial boot up). Then place the roms + cache files in their usual folders and finally start up the emulator. It should work without any problems..... ^_~
Note: A PSP with firmware 1.50 requires two seperate folders to run such emulation, homebrew games and the like...so do use KXploit utility to create such essential required folder in order for the PSP to boot it up.
