PSP Shumps:

Post by Hentai »

I have a dreamcast and love the hell outta it, but I can't carry it around. Fast forward a few years, and now I bought a PS2 and a PSP. I carry around my PSP all the time, and its a Slim, love it and all, but I don't know any good shumps for it. The gradius collection sucks IMO and I have a CPS2 emulator on it so far for the shumps. However, I am always looking for new shumps, and I would appreciate it if anyone could point me in the direction of some good shumps for psp, emulated or not. Money is not an issue. I would rather not get one of those 3D shooters tho. Thanks.

As for official PSP releases (excluding Gradius), there's the following:

Parodius Portable (JPN, Best Version) $29.90

Twinbee Portable (JPN) $39.90

Twinbee Portable (Asia) $24.90

Salamander Portable (Asia) $19.90

Salamander Portable (JPN) $39.90

Sengoku Cannon: Sengoku Ace Episode III (JPN) $52.90

Sengoku Cannon: Sengoku Ace Episode III (Korea) $49.90

Star Soldier (JPN) $37.99

Obvisouly, emulation offers a much wider selection, but I really like the Twinbee, Parodius and Salamander collection. The Star Soldier is nice too, but you should take a pass on the Sengoku Cannon.

And don't forget MS Anthology, Xyanide Resurrection (which isn't that great) and Space Invaders Pocket (which features Arkkanvader, never been seen before on a dedicated machine) - and is the most complete Space Invaders collection.

beta check yesasia; free shipping and cheaper prices anyway. They might not have everything in stock, but they will beat any play-asia price.

The prices listed for some games like the Konami collections are cheaper than YesAsia (at least the Konami Best and Asian versions). PA doesn't have free shipping, but airmail shipping is pretty cheap there. The price listed for Star Soldier is yesasia.

Gunbird on PSX isn't the best version. It's missing tate mode and only has a mode where you have to move up and down to see everything.

I would not recommend Sengoku Cannon: Sengoku Ace Episode III (JPN) for the PSP.

Technically there isn't, you need to run those games via emulator.

Well the Asian version at Play-asia are pretty cheap. I tend to prefer Play-asia as Yesasia package got lost a few times in the transport. They re-shipped them, but waiting 2 months to get my Raiden III was annoying.

There is a problem running DoDonpachi on PSP. Many people had trouble playing it. It always gets stuck on "please wait" part before you begin playing the first mission.

Not sure if the latest firmware fixed this, but who knows?

To be honest I always spelled it like that. Thanks.

Thank you so much, afterbirth and genetik! I will definately look into those. I hope parodius is as good as I remember it. Its a shame that the emulator doesn't alllow music.prx to be used in conjunction with the music.

Hades Nebular
Katakis

Amiga :
Star ray

Ps....i'd recommend you upgrade to M33t 3.71.
Not sure what M33t 3.80 v4 supports yet.

Yeah I have that, the slim is an amazing piece of software, except the iR port thing. 3.80 isn't worth using at the moment.

Its a shame that star soldier was never released here, I would have definately purchased it. And the lowest price is out of stock.. http://www.renchi.com/renchi/PSP_Games_ ... ier_JP.htm

Also, did you emulate all those games yourself? I tried and some have missing files or something. Either the slim version sucks, or I'm doing it wrong.

I'm absolutely, horribly, utterly, and altogether *completely* offended by the fact that my favorite game ever, View Point, isn't listed there, followed by about one sextillion asterisks.

Oh, and no asterisk by Last Resort or Prehistoric Isle 2, and yet you asterisk Alpha Mission II? How much, uh, "ginger ale" have you *had*, dude?

Dang...absolutely QFT. $20 for that? Done. But then again, I guess it's pretty easy to have the lowest price on items that are out of stock. Their Salamander Portable price isn't anything to write home about.

Eh, give it time. It'll get better as time goes on. I've got an original fat PSP with 1.5 code, so mine's basically broken wide open. I'm sure it won't take long for the underground community to catch up, if they're not on the cusp of it already.

That being said, I don't own a slim PSP, so I don't know the scoop with emulation on it.

But, um...that's not a shmup. That's based on a shmup series, yes, but a shmup it's not.
