Are there any retro arcades in Las Vegas?

Post by Leeram »

Hello everyone,

I'm going to Las Vegas at some point in the next year and I was wondering if anyone knows if there are any good arcades there. Preferably with loads of retro games (galaxian, xevious, phenix, zaxxon etc) but maybe with some of the later stuff (ddpachi, garegga etc).

Cheers

Try checking Arcade Locator
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

Leeram - ask Skyline, he lives there & he's already listed virtually every pcb in Las Vegas in a fairly recent chat thread (as far as I remember  ).

Regs, DEL

Ps. Leeram - did you not know about the Meet in Casino Arcade :?:

Refer to here for the thread in question, although I do have to append the information a little.

The Rio has Wyvern Wings, too bad it's not working at all. And by not working I mean the game runs and accepts coins, but the 1P Start button dosen't work. The 2P Start button works, but the 2P shot button dosen't work. The 1P shot button also dosen't work for the Ultracade cab with the big projection screen, with the noticeable burn-in because nobody plays it, and equally nobody gives a fuck about servicing it.

Suncoast/Santa Fe/Treasure Island/Mirage/MGM Grand/Riviera = no shmups.

The Luxor has a few classics, Frogger, Donkey Kong, TMNT Turtles in Time, and some others. I think they got rid of that Asteroids cab. No shmups there either.

I wouldn't know if places like Wynn Las Vegas, Bellagio etc. even have arcades to begin with, doubt they do. Places like Hard Rock, Texas Station, and a lot of the smaller casinos in the city have arcades of various sizes, some of which have only a handful of games. So far I've found nothing special, but will make note of any rarities that pop up.

The only game on your list you'll find is Xevious, at GameWorks. Which is already established as being a sack of shit, but the game plays good at least.

I finally found another Gigawing cab (Excalibur got rid of theirs, along with 1/3 of their total arcade machines) waay over on the Northwest side of town at Sam's Town, inside the Bowling Center.

Was at the Circus Circus today, Raiden II's screen got fixed (no more waving picture) in the Midway Arcade, but the controls aren't that great. The place is pretty big though, plus there are two other arcades in The Adventuredome, one next to the snack bar (pretty small, nothing really special), and on the second level by the Virtual Reality Zone, which is pretty much all Bemani (4 DDR machines, beatmaniaIIDX RED, DrumMania V, Guitar Freaks V, Mambo a GoGo)

Hell I WISH this town had DDP :/ ...shmupwise New York New York is pretty much tops. Espgaluda's still there, and the sticks on Mars Matrix feel like they've loosened up a little...still too stiff though. And you'll find Raiden Fighters next to the VR roller coaster, by the DDRMAX2 machine. Although take note that only Raiden Fighters actually saves the scores if you rank in...Galuda and MM's tables are wiped when the machines are turned off. :?
