Any reason for the price of Ketsui to blow up?

Post by undamned »

Started @ 7000JPY ( $68 ), now over 62000 ( $600 ):

And it's not even a complete kit!

I'm not sure. I consider the following:

1) no home port (fallout between Cave and Arika)
2) not emulated and as far as I know, not dumped for emulation
3) seems to have acquired an increasing amount of interest in the past several months
4) http://forum.shmups.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1327 ;)

it´s funny, just 2 months ago I could have had it for a measly €250. Apart from not having the money, my reasoning was that Galuda is much more interesting in terms of gameplay, setting and music. I´ve seen Ketsui movies over and over again, nice bullet patterns alright, but the setting is just generic, and the gameplay pretty simple compared to other games. So I´m really wondering what´s so compelling about it.

In a honesty Ketsui is far from being my fave Cave game. That's a 3 way tie between Dodonpachi, Espgaluda & Guwange.

I got Ketsui a coupld of months ago for $400 which I thought was reasonable, if not a tad high, but not much. It's a good game, for sure. But, I have to agree, ESPrade, ESPgaluda and even DDP:DOJ are better games. I was a bit dissapointed in it, though I still like it very, very much. The simplicity of the scoring system is the main attraction to me.

Ketsui is at the level of difficulty of ddp-doj or maybe even slighty tougher. Even considering the difficulty, it is a great game and lots of fun.

Would have paid tuition for a course...

I think Ketsui is the best Cave game I've played. Better than Esprade, Progear et al. The bullet patterns are great (especially the bosses), scoring system makes it fun, music is good and the game as a whole IMO is excellent. Some weird graphical glitches though... Pick it up if you can, I'd like a port so more can experience it. The price jump is pretty crazy. If I ever come back to playing and want it again I'm gonna go broke :(

Ketsui is a tricky one.

It tricks you into thinking it's an easy game, and then suddenly lets loose the hounds on your unsuspecting ass. But I know you like it when it happens.

Hard as nails, yet, I love it. I'd be happy if I could just get to level 5 on 1 CC. Almost there. :)

Always happens with any game where 'x' people with enough money all want something at the same time, but only 'y' exist. It'll change, have patience.
