Have these:
Robotron 2084
Geometry Wars Evolved
Hexic 1 + 2
Carcassonne
Pac-Man CE (so good!)
Aegis Wing (it's certainly worth free)
I'm thinking about getting Marble Blast Ultra and maybe Small Arms now that they are 400 points, MBU is a must actually. Just wondering if there's anything hiding from me. I tried Jetpac Refuelled at the request of Damocles but I wasn't sure if it was for me going mostly on the demo (never played the original.) Lumines seems like an OK choice but I don't want to buy all the extra bits even if it is only 10 bucks now for the main game.
Edit: added these to my collection since I made the topic
Pinball FX (ooo!)
Castlevania SOTN
Marble Blast Ultra
Robotron 2084
Geometry Wars Evolved
Hexic 1 + 2
Carcassonne

every extend extra extreme... I got the sample and was shockingly hooked afterwards. had to buy the full version.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?
Puzzle Quest is worth your money, especially if you didn't play the PSP original. They fixed the party member glitch, but somewhat nerfed the Wizard. With the story mode you definately get your money out of the game.
As for Jetpac...well...despite loving Puzzle Quest, it's probably my favorite game on XBLA. It is, however, the same thing over and over for 128 levels...but when that one thing is so good, it doesn't matter. ...if only someone would get online for multiplayer...

Don't think Puzzle Quest is for me either. I don't like Bejeweled THAT much to play it over and over to progress a storyline.
Nah, I know that's not a fair statement, but that seems like one of the games I'd really want on a portable anyways.
Damn Switchball had so much potential, but Jesus Christ look at all that screen-tearing, must be some really bad programming at work if they can't get proper vsync.

Hey I hate Bejeweled, I can't get into it and I love puzzle games too. This is why I didn't play PQ till now. I was like, its Bejeweled, soI never gave it a chance. Then I been hearing a lot about it on IGN and all over, so I decided to try it.szycag wrote:Don't think Puzzle Quest is for me either. I got the PC Demo and couldn't stop playing it. The game rocks. I now can't stop playing, its not just Bejeweled.
Get it!

Try the PC demo, it's long enough that you can definityl get a feel for the game and how it's different from bejeweled. It adds enough to the mix that it takes away a good portion (though by no means all) of the random chance feeling in bejeweled.szycag wrote:Don't think Puzzle Quest is for me either. Also I second Mutant Storm Empire, I haven't played it but if it's anything like the Space Tripper / Mutant Storm hybrid people have said then it's essential (Mutant Storm 1 and Space Tripper also rock out loud)
Worms, while certainly not the best outing in the series is fairly solid, i wouldn't recommend it if you have any other worms games though.
Eets, if you haven't played the PC version is a quirky puzzle game thats some where between lemming and the incredible machine, try the PC demo first though
But wutant storm is the most important one.

The only one's I haven't regretted buying are:
Pinball FX (Best Live Arcade game IMO. But then, a pinball nut would say that)
Mutant Storm Empire (very strongly recommended to all shmuppers)
Carcasonne (surprisingly fun; I'm not usually into puzzle games)
and Pacman C.E. (best Pac-man game since... well, probably Pac-man).

Geometry Wars is the only one I've bought so far, and is highly recommended. The music gets repetitive fast, but I just replace it with some Kill Bill OST, Matrix Reloaded, Cowboy Bebop and Megadeth for good times. The Batman Begins OST works pretty good too.
I'm tempted by Zuma now that it's dropped to 400 points. I've got Defender and Robotron on PS2 game collections, but those are definitely worth getting for anyone who doesn't own a different version. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night is a must. Streets of Rage 2 is a classic. Rez HD is supposedly coming out next month.
When the hell is Trigger Heart Exelica coming out though?

Same story for me. I don't like Bejeweled - but gave PQ a chance on a recommendation. Excellent game.animefanjr wrote: Hey I hate Bejeweled, I can't get into it and I love puzzle games too. SiKrAiKeN: While I don't think everyone here -is- a Ninja Turtle, I DO believe everyone here has the potential to be a Ninja Turtle. No doubt.
Carcassonne eh? Cool. Are you a fan of the board game or did you just pick it up on Xbox Live out of the blue?szycag wrote:Have these:

Yeah, this game is pretty rockin'. My roommate keeps telling me shit about the new Geometry Wars game, and I'm like, "Listen, Mutant Storm Empires went and made that shit obsolete.."jp wrote:Mutant Storm Empires is fucking awesome.
Re: Recommend Xbox Live Arcade games
I really don't know why the Marble Blast! series is so revered by people. It's basically stolen the concept of Marble Madness (of olde) and left it completely bereft of soul. When I tried Marble Blast, I was initally excited, and when I was done, I had *such* a bad taste in my mouth, that I had no reason to go back to it. Ever.szycag wrote:I'm thinking about getting Marble Blast Ultra and maybe Small Arms now that they are 400 points, MBU is a must actually.
Mutant Storm Empire, though, yeah: winner, winner, chicken dinner.
I'm not as big a fan of Settlers of Catan (again, I've never played the Xbox Live versions of either). Carcassone is more intuitive and involves considerably more luck (which I like).szycag wrote:I picked up Carcassonne when it was free, which was like, the night I brought my 360 home, by complete chanceThat game is great, bVork said I should get catan too but it's a little more complicated... i'll give it a fair chance too though, at some point

Alright, Pinball FX is really, really fun. Looks great, controls great.
Mutant Storm Empire didn't seem all that exciting during the few minutes I spent with the demo. With Geometry Wars: Evolved/Galaxies and Everyday Shooter, I don't really need another arena shooter.
Are there any cheap downloads that are worthwhile?

Sorry, they're all cheap. I should have said *really* cheap, but I'd already used the word "really" too many times. I've got 300 MS points, but it looks like you need 400 to get anything worthwhile.
Super C demo has a bizarre color scheme that I did not like at all. Xevious demo seemed nice, even playing with the standard controller and its awkward dpad. I hardly need another version of that game, though.

I haven't really kept up with XBLA stuff lately, but I just finally finished off Richter mode on SOTN tonight (enough to get the points at least, I should go through again without abusing the heck out of Hydro Storm at some point) for 200/200 gamerscore. I personally find Puzzle Quest to be something of an acquired taste though. I picked it up for DS prior to a roadtrip a few months back, and I've been playing on that. I seem to alternate between being absolutely on it and being half-tempted to toss the cartridge down the garbage disposal... As far as puzzlers go, I wish Popcap would hurry up and get Bookworm on XBLA (I'd probably spend way too much time on that though.) If I get started on Hexic, I can find myself missing a few hours all of a sudden as well (haven't tried Hexic 2 yet though.)
I should probably give Pinball FX another shot too. I used to be a big-time pinball junkie, but stopped playing a few years ago, mostly for lack of working tables in the area. There are several XBLA games I've been meaning to grab, but I just haven't bothered. It looks like I might have to get some points to pick up the new Halo 3 maps before the next Saturday Night session I play once a month, so I'll probably try a couple.
