Sup guys, let's talk about Otomedius.
For those unaware, Otomedius is the blend of Gradius, Parodius, blah blah blah etc., etc., but essentially it's Konami taking the music game approach to a shoot-em-up...not that it's rhythmically inclined or anything, but it's easily comparable to something like IIDX: Certainly flashy presentation, you choose the stage and difficulty settings (though the prospect of rank by time and powerup possession DOES still exist...), e-Amusement, and the game kicks you off after x number of stages are completed. Quite pleasing on the eyes as well, even as it prospectively kicks one's metaphorical ass.
Though I must say this game is 8 times more pleasing than I thought it would be, given the initial look and general negative attitude I'd scoured from the boards here.
Anyone else given this piece a whirl? If so...thoughts? I love it and I've got a ton of things I'd like to talk (and hopefully also ask) about, but class soon, so maybe later.

They like it better when you bring back the same topic you found to continue the discussion instead of opening another one about the same thing.Though I must say this game is 8 times more pleasing than I thought it would be, given the initial look and general negative attitude I'd scoured from the boards here.
Main Otomedius topic is here
Welcome to the forum thing. The FAQ is good readings.
I am jealous you've played Otomedius. I'd like to play that. So you're saying the game can't be 1CC'd because no matter how good you're doing the game makes you stop before it's over?

I thought about it, but AOU is/was history and that was pretty much all a search for otomedius and otome* brought up...though it appears that thread is relatively recent for some reason or another. Hmmmm.
I'm also no stranger to these boards, either---well, sort of...I just decided to take a years-long break from posting on here...on the old forums pre-crash there was a pretty proliferant thread regarding raw scoring/shmup ideas and what were described as very pretty high score tables.
