I'm sure Mikado will get it, and they're not horribly far away from me.

Original and Maniac won't play the same as there is a brand new shot for Reco and Palm. You can't choose Normal or Abnormal any more. Hopefully they add a more Ketsui-ish multiplier to one of these modes, or some other tweaks.
GOD mode will be easier than Ultra. You have more fire power and a new final boss. Black Labels are always easier than the normal release. That's one reason why they make them, when people complain the original game (or mode) is too hard. Like DDP:DOJ, Ibara, and Mushi Futari's Ultra.

futari black label seems a bit redundant to me not in the last place because of the quite numerous revisions they game has already had. think that ibl is a nice, more cave-ish alternative to ibara but it seems to me that there is not really "an alternative game" to be made out of futari...
also think that the 150 number will be their initial run. if there is more than sufficient demand i'm positive they will capitalize on that and print some more as long as the game is current.
also, i really hope they aren't going to be making deliberate "ltd. edition" pcbs cause that would be pretty f*ck*ng stupid, imo. the pcb market is already very small and to fill that with ltd. editions may be a good selling mechanism but it's pretty bad idea, me thinks.

warning: a huge warning sign is approaching fast!

off topic: doj BL isn't easier. there's an interesting essay written by ISO on the SOF team's homepage, if you wanna check it out. trouble with doj BL is you get these western players who bomb and die, and make it up to stage 4, and think they've played enough to make a decision. but because doj is cave's game with the most complex rank system (well, two different rank systems in play at the same time!), the game gets harder as you get better. so if you aren't pushing the game and no-miss no bombing up to stage 5, you aren't really experiencing how tough the game truly is.
black label's are more like a revised version, and correct things the developers think maybe need fixing/adjusting. so for futari, conversely, if ultra mode was too easy to clear, that probably would've put the difficulty up. personally, i reckon this new TLB (or is it BLT?) will be much much harder, but with less forms. that's my guess
are cave doing service where you can send your board back and upgrade it for a fee? and is it both games on the pcb, or just black label?

jpj is absoluteley right, if you play BL for sore and is atleast half decent at it it is alot more difficult.. basically you play in hyper mode all the time.
however if you are a beginner and only use the hypers as a bomb to get out of sticky situations it might seem easier, hypers are plentiful in BL.

Can someone that's tinkered w/ an SH3 board comment one if it's even possible to have both versions (in terms of space). From what I've seen, DOJ white versus black is mainly different bullet patterns, more hypers, and minor tweaks. Mainly just programming changes. Futari 1.0 versus 1.5 has all that, plus major characteristic changes to the characters, enemies, bosses, as well as different patterns. Would we presume the same outcome for Futari Black?
If both are on there, it would be a great deal. I doubt it will be though.

EOJ: Which character do you use in Futari ?
GP: It would be possible to have both versions on the PCB. The
reason for this is the statement that Deathsmiles was quoted
as having TWICE the amount of character data as Futari.

on the board. He affirms this by stating that memory allocation
was the hardest part of programming. So, still a big question mark?

There's an auction for 1.5 up now for only 89000 yen: http://page10.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/m49803239
I'm half tempted, but I can't read the description, and I'd have to go through a proxy bidding site (probably Crescent Trading). Any idea how hard all of the shipping and fees would cost?

If both are on there i would buy it in a heartbeat, but IBL did not have it so i'm 99% sure Futari will also not have it....GaijinPunch wrote: If both are on there, it would be a great deal. I doubt it will be though.
But the most important thing (for me) is if it is really lim this time.....
Tama---->sold out----->Brand new Kits + bonus available 1.5 years (or more?) later
Ibara---->sold out ----->2 months ago new kits available (dirty cheap)
IBL---->sold out---->some months later new kits +poster available
Pinks Sweets---->sold out----> now new kits are available again
hhhmmmmm.....

well it's pretty interesting that they can re-program the sh-3 boards. cool from their point of view. but also cool for folks who want a complete kit or whatever, for a healthy saving from the original price. but yeah, i wouldn't wanna buy it, and then six months later there's a "second batch" that magically now includes a kick-ass poster
what's that about

Re: 1.54
WTF? There is a 1.54 out now? How many bug updates have cave been secretly releasing? I wonder what the differences are from 1.5.thegreathopper wrote:I will correct that, I just powered it up and it is version 1.54thegreathopper wrote:I have a Mushi Futari 1.52, what is the red label?jpj wrote:
but overall, it's a bit disheartening that cave have made so many revisions of the same game. am i right in thinking it's like: 1.0; 1.5; red label; 1.51; and now black label...?
Is this the newest version available? (at the moment)

@Dave K. Ver 1.5 has always been ver 1.54. It just says '1.5' at the title screen because that sounds better than "1.54". You just see the 1.54 when you power up the board.
Also, I got a scan of the official Cave/AMI flier for this game. It says right at the top in big print "A limited edition of only 150 PCBs". This worries me, as no other flier or official Cave document stated the production run of previous black labels, afaik (certainly not in the case of Ibara BL). They may really stick to the 150 this time.
It also says, besides what we already know (God mode, new shot, etc), other "new content" is added.
Oh the temptation...
