Is there a site which has a rarity guide and/or a value guide? Preferably for the UK market?? I know there are sites out and about that have all sorts of guides on them for specific platforms but I've never come across one specifying genre let alone one dedicated to shmups...
Shmup rarity & value guide?

rarity and value are independent of each other.
There are some not-so-uncommon games that go for over $100 and some rare games that go for under $10.
I'd like to see jp use his information he gets from wherever to put together a rarity guide, whereas the rest of us could pool our resources to find an average price via web-based retailers/ebay sellers to get average US/UK/and JPN prices for various games.

Yeah that'd be good! It'd be interesting to see just how rare some games are. It'd also be interesting to see how valuable some games are! Maybe the rarity could be given a value like 0 to 5. The rarist being 5 and the comon ones a big fat nada! And if we could manage to get prices for all 3 territories it could become quite encyclopeadic...

Digital Press (www.digitpress.com) has an excellent rarity/value guide, although they pretty much just cover the NA market.

Personally, I think that rarity and price are both as important - especially when you have a limited budget. Sometimes you have to prioritise which comes first, the expensive but common game or that rare one that you don't know that much about??? They both help you to make informed decisions when collecting games.gingerj wrote:Really? What about Radient Silvergun that can be picked up easily and yet has rare tags stuck up everywhere and a ridiculous price sticker on them is well...ill6 wrote:Price seems to be the best guide in my opinon.

Yeah, I spend quite a bit of time on that site. It's really good to hang around on but the rarity guide isn't specialised and is huge!! So, sometimes it's a bit out of date and like you said it tends to be USA biased...it290 wrote:Digital Press (www.digitpress.com) has an excellent rarity/value guide, although they pretty much just cover the NA market.

That sounds like a good idea! Is it for this site or one of your own? If you need a hand let me know - I'm not very knowledgable (hence the desire for a guide!!) but I am a demon on MS Excel. I've done a rarity list for the NGPC on it and it's quite clear to read and easy to update...BulletMagnet wrote:I'm actually in the beginning stages of working on something like this, though it's focused pretty much entirely on price rather than rarity.
