and "Right to Left" Horizontal shmups?

Post by RoninBuddha »

well, it sound awkward, but after playing some darius2, and the boss fight in stage 1, you can turn to face the left side...

so are there and Horizontal Shmups wich are set on Right to Left??

Well...you can go right-to-left in Fantasy Zone if you want to.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

The only thing I can think of, is the right-to-left scrolling of the end portion of Gradius V's 6th level.

Planet Patrol for the Atari 2600 is a forced scrolling shooter going right-to-left (unlike a few other games where you can switch directions, this one is always scrolling in that direction and your ship is always facing left).

Great little game - and is definitely innovative in being one of the first (possibly the first) horizontal shmup to force scrolling right-to-left.

Well from what I've seen of screenshots that Gradius game on some mobile phone, you control a Core instead of the Vic Viper.

Theres a level in R-Type III in which you first fly from left to right and after fighting the boss you go back vice versa. With new opponents certainly...

There's an old game in mame where you fly an airplane right to left (background scrolls to the right). Can't remember the name though.

Oh that's right. In Gradius Imperial, you play as the Core, and the game scrolls right-to-left.

Heh I wonder how it will play, esp that one pick I've seen of the Core moving towards a rather tight space.

From the video I have, it seems like only the very front of the Core can be damaged (just like in the regular games). You also have at least three weapon types- A frontal laser, missiles, and an *area blast* that forms a strange grid on the screen.

The second halves of the second and sixth (is that the number, the next to last one) levels of Steel Empire scroll right to left.

Although not really a traditional shmup, SkyKid (a mid 80s Namco arcade game) has forced right-to-left scrolling in it.

That's the one I was trying to think of.
