I know this game probably better than 99.9999% of all people on this planet, with the possible exception of the original team that put it together, and perhaps a guy in Japan. Maybe two. I can probably say with relative safety that if I'm not the best player at it, then I was at one time. I can answer questions about this game that most people wouldn't know, much less even think to *ask*:

1. At what point value do the stars max out, and why does it matter?

2. How does one turn the moving blocks of Stage 6 into moving idols?

3. How does one defeat each and every boss using no bombs?

4. How, in Stage 5, can *both* pickups be gotten from the lava-encased area that quickly erupts by both pickups on opposite sides of the screen?
hello Boagman, I'm the one of two peoples with 100% knowledge in this game in the planet (other people is CORVUSCORAX IMU-AT2 from, Japan). I have the 0,0001% of knowledge that you miss. I know the answer for all your questions.

for exemple:

Image

But, can you answer these questions?

1) how many 1up bonus there are in this game? 8)

2) how many stars there are in this game? 8)

3) how many NOZO bonus item there are in this game? 8)

4) how many "Larva" enemies there are in this game?

5) for score, is important autofire in this game ? yes/no

please aswer.

- For curiosity, which is your better score ?

Because I read this:
I can probably say with relative safety that if I'm not the best player at it, then I was at one time
really? Therefore in past, your score was better of 5.200.000 pts?
Wow, man....humble pie does *not* taste very good, I must say.

To be fair, I *do* know the answers to one or two of your questions (at least, I *think* I do, or did at one time), but holy stinking crap, man...that's a crazy, crazy standard, there, if it's legit. I'm *not* saying that it isn't, but I honestly, having put literally a thousand hours (probably far more) into this game *without* the benefit of anyone else's help or knowledge, can't fathom how a score of that magnitude can be achieved. Bravo. And I mean that.

May it never, ever be said that I can't put my foot in my mouth with the best of them.

Having said that, I am greatly, *greatly* relieved that there are people out there who know this stuff, can achieve this stuff, and appreciate this game for the masterpiece that I know it to be. I have never heard of you, or of the other Japanese gent that you reference, but I would be honored to know you both. I'm certainly *humbled* just being called out by you, I'll tell you that! I don't think I've ever been so aptly extinguished like so many other big-mouths can be. I deserve it.

I must ask, having now repented in dust and ashes, a couple of questions about your questions, if I may, since there is a bit of a language barrier between us. I think I'm just going to take it to a private message, though, since it'll be a bit OT for this thread.

Gentlemen (and ladies, if applicable), it's stuff like this that makes me realize that sometimes it's just best to KEEP MY VIRTUAL MOUTH SHUT. I hereby do completely, totally, and unreservedly apologize for my obviously terribly arrogant statement about my own abilities and knowledge on the game of Viewpoint for the Neo.

I will forever defend that game until my dying day...I just won't try to do it while tooting my own horn simultaneously.

"There's *always* someone better." A lesson learned from the School of Hard Knocks, located at the corner of Humbled and Defeated, in the misty regions of...The Twilight Zone.

::sigh:: Perhaps I can try "Tiddly Winks" now. Maybe that'll be more my speed. Or "Go Fish." Or "Count Your Nose." Perhaps I can be the best at one of *those* games.

The King is dead. Long live the King!

Oh, and just for reference, folks, I wasn't avoiding posting, I was catching up on the thread, and was doing other things. Plus, it does take a bit of time to compose such a self-reaming. I honestly hope it was sufficient.

I'm honestly both completely floored with self-disgust and completely jubilant that there is so much more to be gleaned from my favorite game, ever, and that there are people who *know*. I must learn...

Seriously, if I ever won the lottery, if I could feasibly do it, I'd want to see if I could find the original Sammy team and put them back together for a sequel of some sort. I've never been this impressed or inspired by any game.

All things told, it's been a great day getting my head handed to me. :)

I just went and checked, and the last time I recorded a best score for it would be 1528320. Now, that may not be the highest I ever got, but if it isn't, I can guaran-stinking-tee that my highest score was only ever maybe 1.7-1.8M points, or thereabouts. If you mathematicians out there are keeping score, you'll note there's about a 3.7M discrepancy between the stated high score and my own recorded best score.

That's...a big stinking difference.

Now, please: how much more humiliated do I need to be?

Zed Blade! Sure it's kinda easy but the Manabu Namiki soundtrack really makes it all worthwhile... I loved this one in the arcades and would get uncomfortably close to the cab to hear the music :0

Robotron, you know it doesn't take any arm-twisting to get me to play this game! I'll have to take you up on this on some non-Friday night.

And sir, you have no *idea* how small I feel right now, yet so elated. I can't even stinking *believe* that there's more to this game! Huzzah! :)

QFT. I've only ever seen the game in person on location once (and *never* in a private collection), and the music was absolutely superb. I recall really liking the play of the thing, too, but this puppy was gone before I ever really got the chance to delve deep into its play. And believe me, I *wanted* to.

Man, I love talking about this crap.

If, by "best," you mean "Look at the Idiot Retarded Monkey Boy backtrack like the moron he is!", then yes....it's the best ever.

You're welcome. ;)

hi hi  lol

I have wrote these informations in my document "gamest list" I had forgotten

now, I'm on job, I not have time in this moment, then i return and I answer you Boagman.

however....

I know the hi-score history of view point from 1992.

I played this game from 1992~1994 in game center, then I have bought AES in febraury 1995.

in march 95 my score was about 2.000.000 and in 1999 (my last play in this game) was about 3.000.000.

now, with 100% knowledge I can perform 3.800.000 max, but are necessary at least 3 months of work.

IMU-AT2 is actual best player of this planet with 5.201.000 pts (from Japan sure)

but this is not max score possible in this game, because is possible obtain 5.360.000/5.400.000 pts with default settings

Since Planet Joker was released in '97 and not '91-'95, probably not far.

#37 SD Gundam Neo Battling (Banpresto, 1992)
ImageImageImageImage
I was expecting something nearly unplayable like the other two Gundam shooters I've encountered. This game does not try very hard at all. At all. The game has one button and not like Mars Matrix. You shoot. Stages are broken up into very small chunks. After a few stages have passed it gets challenging and not in a way that requires any memorization whatsoever. Not too bad.

#36 Andro Dunos (Visco, 1992)
ImageImageImage
This could easily fit in with the most mediocre of Sega Genesis shooters. Except it would be one of the better mediocre Sega Genesis shooters. Imagine Arrow Flash except slightly challenging, slightly better graphics and music. There are four weapons you can switch between but they could've easily trimmed this down to two. You need a few power ups before the difference is that noticeable.

#35 Ryu Jin (Taito, 1993)
ImageImageImageImage
One of the most colorful shooters I have ever seen. So colorful that it is hard to tell what is happening at times. This game would almost squeak into respectable territory but there is that problem coupled with the bizarre "big" power up item. I do love these for the sheer ridiculousness, but they kept appearing before a number of bosses which destroyed them before I had to dodge any attack.

Great stuff. Now I have a whole boatload of mediocre shooters to try out. I've played Andro Dunos but I think that's about my lot so far. Cheers :P
