Hi,
I just picked up this _absolutely kick-ass_ RGB monitor on the cheap. It's a 31" display made in 1990 and features RGBHV / RGBS switchable BNC inputs, as well as 25-pin analog RGB and 9-pin digital RGB, svideo and composite inputs. Unfortunately, I can find next to no info about it online. One data table I found suggests it should be able to handle 31khz even, although I'm not sure I want to try it to find out. So, I was just wondering if anyone had any further info they could pass along about this or similar Mitsubishi models.

Secondly, I plan on hooking up my PS2 (along with my other consoles) to this baby. I have the PS2 component cable already and was wondering if there was an easy way to get RGBS out of that... as I understand it the PS2 normally outputs sync-on-green RGB if using the component cable and set to RGB mode... so I take it I would need to strip the sync out of the green cable? In that case, it would probably be easier to get an RGB SCART cable for the PS2 and build an adapter for that (as I have done with my other consoles), correct?

Ps2 outputs RGB+composite sync (no Sync on Green) when it's in 15Khz mode. If a game supports progressive video then the output switches to sync on green.

Cool. Thanks for the clarification. So that being the case, is it possible to take the composite sync from the component cable? I assume not, since it only has RGB+L/R audio cables.

Hmm... update, having tried it the monitor interestingly works in component mode (with the wrong colors), but switching to RGB makes the screen go dark, presumably because the sync is now only being output on that separate pin. Looks like an SCART cable is the way to go, unless anyone has some clever hack to make it work with the component.

What about using a component -> VGA transcoder? It would cost you more than a scart cable, but could be useful for other consoles.

Another (cheap) suggestion would be to hack the ps2 component cable and add another wire or sacrifice one of the 2 audio wires.

Thought about adding a wire, but unfortunately the shell on my component cable is molded together, so that's a non-starter (I don't want to hack it apart with a knife). A transcoder would be good, actually I already have one in the form of a Hori upscan converter 2, but that only outputs 31khz. Could get another one, but it's not really worth it since the PS2 is the only console I have which outputs component. At this point I think I'll just go w/SCART as I already have a setup which will allow me to hook that up the the BNC connectors on the back of the monitor.

Sounds like it takes RGB through the DB25 input. Just get cables made, there are one or two guys on here that can make them.
