ESP hearts = "bars" (like strider "bars").
So every game's remain symbol is a life gauge I guess, since both ESP games have remains, not a meter.

That "?" is for effect. When have you noticed a magazine speculate such a massive game play element and be totally wrong? Especially right before it's revealed?
I remember reading in an interview that he'd like to do an action game and not a shooting game
He indeed stated he's not much of a shooting game guy, which is ironic as that's 90% of his resume.

I've honestly always assumed Esprade's hearts were meant to resemble a life bar... due to how the characters recover from being hit. But who cares, ultimately its a number, when its below 0, game over!
Unless in the case of Deathsmiles it actually IS a life bar that is just segmented into 3 slots, maybe some kind of special attack power meter works off it.. speculation speculation speculation... :P

Hope we can see some video of Casper and Windia's Spooky Halloween Adventure soon, maybe the fabled Great Pumpkin from Charlie Brown makes an appearance as a boss.

And I'm also wondering if the sidekick owl/bat maybe works in some way similar to Guwange... in one of the magazine shots the owl is shooting along with one of the main characters..

I got the issue. One of the pictures clearly shows the character facing an angle (almost straight down). Maybe Forgotten Worlds meets Section Z. Also, the owl/bat seems to be a ways away from the player character.

its kind of funny how much the curiosity (or anticipation) is growing on me, just because it doesn't look like a vertical shooter.

Junya Inoue Translation

It's pretty short, but it's all we've got.

So far, we're pretty sure that it's not forced scrolling as there are pictures from the same stage w/ the character pointing left and right. It could go back and forth, but who knows.

-There is a counter, and apparently you get 3 stock bombs

-There could be some type of rotation or lock-on attack, as shown in one of the pictures.

-This game apparently has no bullets... at least not yet.

I'm pretty pumped about this game. I thought the Joker was Ghost like Swayze. I really hope it's as creative as he leads on in that interview that GP so lovingly xlated for us. Elements he wanted in Progear that didn't get in. And a design that would be fun to play for a long time. Yesssss. :D

So the director is Joker Jun, Ikeda may not even have anything to do with this game, and none of you guys are jumping up and down or whatever?

For all we know, both Ikeda and Yagawa are working on new games as I type these words.

The art director is always listed as the art director in their games. The programmer is always listed as the programmer. Example, Haccan was the director for Mushihime-sama Futari. Ikeda was merely the programmer. The jobs overlap somewhat (although the developers don't code I'm sure).

He's not the art director in any of them though, which is what Junya Inoue is in this (and all the other games he's worked on). Even in at least ESPRade (probably everything) as an art directory he dealt w/ enemy placement and other things that would effect gameplay while it's still clearly an Ikeda game.
