AM Show 2007 Thread
Anyone else notice that not only are they not on the list, but they've not made an announcement about their booth (which they most likely would have done by now?) Anyone been following in Arcadia?

If they don't show it's probably because they need more time with Death Lolita before they have something presentable (this would be a good sign that they're not rushing things like they did with Futari last year). Maybe it'll get pushed back to early next year, and have a January release a la Ketsui.
Anyway, Cave doesn't really need the AM show at this point. Any new game they release is sure to do well in the arcades, regardless of an AM show appearance.

So something more powerful than the current SH-3 powered Cave shmup PCBs to be looking forward to? Piques my interest in this new developement news if it so. ^_~SuperPang wrote:Death Loli has had way more development time than recent titles by the looks of it, not even a sniff of a screenshot yet. Good sign, and quite possibly new hardware.
Of course, it will also mean shelling out more yen for the new hardware developement costs, etc. when Death Loli finally is released as a bona-fide PCB..... ^_~

All of Cave's games are "animated" (and drawn for that matter) by computer.... quite often w/ a 3D application. There is no doubt way more drawing going on in any fighting game.... a lot more credits going into the final product as well as it were.icycalm wrote:I'd say that animating a shooter in high-res must be a whole lot easier than a fighter...

Because, like he said, they are 3D models and the animation frames are extracted by a 3D computer calculated animation and then copy-->pasted into the game. A "real" (
Anyway, in this forum we love Cave at the point that we are able to open a discussion thread on it even if it does NOT anything at all

Animation is animation regardless of whatever technique you use to achieve it. I still don't see the purpose of the quotation marks in GP's post.stratos wrote:Because, like he said, they are 3D models and the animation frames are extracted by a 3D computer calculated animation and then copy-->pasted into the game. A "real" (icycalm wrote:Why the quotation marks for animated?) 2D animation shoul'd be drawn by hand, like in DDP.

A lot of games just take 2D sprites and scale/rotate/move them around for their animation. There is no real changing shape.stratos wrote:icycalm wrote:Why the quotation marks for animated?

There are a couple problems with them going high res: processing power, the backgrounds, and they would need to spend more time modeling/texturing.
Good. Bad. I'm the guy with the gun.

I would rather it be called Deadly Vertical Smiles. More of a disappointment for me is that once again Manabu Namiki is doing the tunes.
I'll be there...just not sure what day. Probably the Saturday early, play a few credits, and then leave.

THE DEVELOPMENT TIMELINE OF THE DEATH SMILES LOGO:
23rd August, 5:12PM
A Cave artist whips some random cheap looking shit up.
23rd August, 5:18PM
The artist decides it doesn't looks shit enough and goes to another artist for help.
23rd August, 5:20PM
The other artist applies a purple stroke to the layer in Photoshop.
23rd August, 5:21PM
There is much rejoicing.
