Oh for the love of fucking Christ.Twiddle wrote:You can have the same settings as the console ports by setting extends to 300/700k.
But pshblllttt it's not like anyone ever touches the test menu
And I notice there's significantly faster autofire on the console port!
w/e just gonna play bioshock until a decision is reached by the people who pitted both parodius games against each other
DO YOUR HOMEWORK, PEOPLE.
We've just started and already we have a problem.
Are we playing with Extends or not? I can play on MAME or Twinbee Deluxe on Saturn, but would prefer some kind of consensus as to what settings should be used for both Extends and Autofire.

Hey.
After evaluating, MAME people can go ahead and turn extends on. Set at 300,000 and 700,000. Set the Autofire delay to 3. The Port will be allowed for use.
This game has so many scoring opportunities, even if the elites clear this game mid-week,
-100% kill rate per stage in air on ground is extremely difficult...
-...while maintaining the yellow bell chain...
-...while avoiding unwanted bell colors & powerups...
-...while manipulating the 57300 bell bonus.
-All this and knowing that when an arm is blown off it does affect scoring opportunities unless you can manipulate the 57300 to compensate. Not to mention each arm has a sizable hitbox. The two extra lives can serve as arm-repair insurance...or rank control, what-have-you...
Then you have the gravity manipulation parts and stage 2's double-4:3-width stage which has to at least force strategy to refine a proper scoring path.
I think there's enough going on and plenty to do to keep improvement lasting all week even with a few clears.
If somebody wants a politically correct rewrite of Twiddle's guide, hit me back.

I like how if your arm gets shot off you're sent half a screen away careening into something else and dying because you have no invinciblity as soon as you regain control.

I agree with the rest of your post, there's a lot of stuff to consider and also quite a lot of options, like choosing a charge beam carefully. Definitely a lot of room for improvement and experimentation.
I've used up all my anger on this stupid game for today, so here are normal instructions.
1) use MamePlus/WolfMamePlus
2) enter tab menu and enter Autofire Setting
3) choose button you want to set autofire in and switch it to ON
4) scroll down to the appropriate autofire delay and crank it down to 3

Yup, you got hit by a scratch. a full frontal blow will kill you instantly though, so it's not like you have a two-bar health meter.msm wrote:edit - so these arms 'die' if they get hit, which is why i get hit but don't properly die?

Calm down everyone please. We just discovered this issue and can't react 24hours to every problem. We try to get our act together as quick as possible, which we can't not always do immidiately. I remember we also had some minor issues regarding ports and different versions last year. Which is quite difficult to look into in advance (i.e. at the poll stage), as we do not own all the possible games. Therefore I would like to ask you (the whole community taking part) to point out known issues and differences between ports and versions in advance. So that we can avoid a debatte like this every week.
So I admit that this aspect should be better organized for the future weeks. And we will take more attention to port-arcade diferences for Seibu Week. But still I think this short phase of unclarity didn't ruin the whole competition. So please, keep the critics in a non-trolling manner. As the organization is actually a lot of unpaid work too. So please contribute your critics in a constuctive way that it may indeed help to improve this event.
Well, anyway no harm taken or anything. I thought I'd just point it out early.
By the way, it might also be useful if you state the version you are playing the game on. (also in future if we find out about a problem mid-week, that we can easilly see which scores can't be counted.)
Like that:
Name - Team - Score - Stage - (Version)

No offence taken, mate. Honestly, I am also a bit dissapointed that Yahhoo got chosen myself. Among those games definitely not among my favourites.Icarus wrote:Yeah, sorry Edge.
Long day at work combined with no Sexy Paro means I'm quite irritable at the moment.
I bet SiK has already ALLed Yahhoo three times by now.

Wow, it can be hard to get the bells to cooperate. Favorite moment?
Destroying on of the 1st level midboss' wings, causing him to careen across the screen while firing his laser, instantly kiling me.
Also, I just realized I had my autofire set to 5. Big deal? Does my score not count?
