For anyone who doesn't feel like wasting 8 minutes listening to people who seem to think they are the end-all-be-all when it comes to "retro gaming", I can sum up those 8 minutes into one choice sentence:
"Home consoles 'killed' arcades."
They should have just called the segment "Let's State The Obvious! Starring: A Bunch of Pretentious Tools!" Seriously, did they just grab people on the street and ask their opinion? A Contribuing Editor for "College Humor?" A "Guitar Hero Master?" I think anyone of us here is more qualified to have our opinions put in that video than any of them. Also, any of those fucks who dissed the Neo-Geo can go take a long walk off a short pier. The Metal Slugs alone are worth getting that system.

Turns out she's somebody who used to be on America's Next Supermodel.
Also turns out she's not that cute after all.

Her taste in music is not entirely horrible. I wonder if she will ever get over the 80s? Worst decade for pop music since the 50s (oh shit, and then she's got Elvis Presley listed).CIT wrote: http://www.myspace.com/shandirocks

Man, I pretty much gagged on my drink at work from all the picture edits. We should do this more often. I only wish I had uber 1337 editing 5k1llz so I could join in
some more.
some more.

Watch how fast the Japanese fans break out the hot tar and feathers.Macaw wrote:Someone should subtitle this in Japanese and then show it to Japanese arcade fans.
The Genesis Space Harrier II is mislabeled as just Space Harrier. When they say the Genesis versions of the games are the arcade ones- they're really wrong. Forgotten Worlds was a total hackjob with 2 levels gone, reduced detail, and weak difficulty compared to the arcade. After Burner isn't the same without analog control (which was in there if you had the XE-1AP/XE-1AJ, but this was something most US gamers didn't have).
I'd like to see that one guy's reaction regarding Neo-Geo game prices if someone were to tell him what they really cost at the time- $200+.
The remark about Final Fight sucking as a home game was off. These players probably had to credit-feed the easier SNES version all the way through. These players would probably call Giga Wing "cheap" or "too easy with unlimited continues".
Time Crisis 3 is as good at home as it is in the arcade- even without the gun recoil. Credit feeding can hurt your score here- if you've got free play and shoot "YES" at the continue screen, the soldiers in front of you drop dead. You lose the chance to do the "1 Head - 2 Body" (1H2B) kill on them, and your combo is broken.
Online play isn't exactly the same thing as being in front of the cabinet with another player. Playing Time Crisis 4 online (if the PS3 version were to actually allow that) would have some major changes. You wouldn't be able to peek over at the other player's screen in link play to see what's going on at their side. Coaching a less-experienced partner through a 3-screen battle would be tougher as well.
Kinect? KIN NOT.
Great video and an even better thread.
I really wanted to quote the best statements of that video, but then again I had to almost quote the entire video. I think it's one thing having a different opinion, but simply talking so much nonsense is just funny. Those guys are awesome, the real gaming history experts. I hope they'll do more such videos in the future. ^^''
I also liked how the Neo Geo was just worth one comment like: "But hell, who would like to play these games anyway."
If I'd had more freetime I would like to join you guys with some edits. Though you did a great job already, please let this continue.
Could anyone come up with a "port ever" edit, with a Mega Drive and one guy from that funny bunch.
