Ketsui PCB collection : let's get it dumped.
I'll keep it brief as possible.
We're collecting for a KETSUI PCB to send to GURU to be dumped in the hope we will see it emulated, as no real port is on the horizon.
we've all talked about seeing some new cave games running on mame, and without the small core of people that want it taking the initative to start something it's never going to happen.
This changes now.
I've stepped forward to take donations. Many of you bought ikaruga tees from me, and everyone seems to be happy with my last service.
the target initially is $800
My paypal ID
pixelcorpsATyahoo.com (obviously replace the AT for @)
if you donate please give me your shmups username to add to the list.
If you want to send checks or money orders, PM me and i'll give you snailmail info.
i'll update this entry for donations, and the grand total on a daily basis.
if donations dry up way short of the target, everyone gets refunded.
PLEASE NOTE :
SENDING GURU THE PCB FOR DUMPING IS IN NO WAY A GUARANTEE THAT THIS WILL BE AN IMMEDIATE SUCCESS - HAVING ANYTHING PLAYABLE MAY STILL BE A LONG, LONG WAY OFF!
however no-one else is going to do this, let's face it, outside of us, not many other people care...
let's see what happens.

nothing ventured, nothing gained...General Martok wrote:I think you should do a vote first to see how many people are actually interested in donating and how much.
I'd feel more confident if there are like 50 or more people willing to do this. Plus there could very well be the possibility that we don't nearly have enough interested in this.

Ok, optimist and pessimist time.
1.) There's no guarantee that Guru will even dump the board. He's notorious for doing his own thing.
2.) Why not just get someone who already owns the board to send it off to him? Granted, he might just sell it...and it might get broken...or no one would be willing to lend it out...but hey, nothing ventured, nothing gained. Teehee.

I've been thinking about this for awhile. If you get up enough people to actually buy the board, you stand a better chance of playing this now (without waiting for emulation to work) by simply mailing that board around for everyone to play on a monthly basis! You'd only need 20 people to donate $50 each, and your Ketsui Club is complete. Although maybe 10 people at $100 each is a better, since nobody will want to wait for 20 months after joining to play it.

if you can see that. Can't tell if that artwork is copied or not, and I'm too lazy to run it through a translator.
150k yen, lol. Gonna need more donations at this rate!

i'll gladly donate when i get paid.
as a computer science student im very curious about the whole rom dumping and emu process. i would love to see some code or learn more about this.
if we had access to source or even algorithms, we could probably do a port to windows if we got enough people behind it. (i can dream!)
