Who owns all of Toaplan game rights?

Post by Fighter17 »

Banpresto?

I'm asking because on the Ultracade Multi-ROM arcade machine, when it shows a Toaplan title, it doesn't say where it's copyrighted from.

If the machine shows a Data East game, it'll be from G-Mode, Capcom From Capcom, and etc.

It's a big question mark. Banpresto apparently has some of them, but a lot are still up on the air. There's a chance that some of them went down with the ship (perhaps even Toaplan's ship).

My guess is Taito still own at least Slap Fight, since they recently released that Slap Fight mini TV-game thingy.

Wish it was me; Toaplan shooting battle vol. 2 would be out today!

Are you referring to that controller that also had another shmup on it? IIRC, that was released about 2 years ago, but I don't think anyone on here got one. Would be interesting to hear some feedback, as they were a lot cheaper then the Mega Drive port.

Banpresto (previously Coreland) is now a full subsidiary of Namco Bandai- so Air Gallet is definitely owned by NB now. Some of Toaplan's games are probably in Namco's ownership now- I'm thinking Batsugun, the first Kyuukyoku Tiger/Twin Cobra, and Tiger Heli.

I'd guess Fire Shark & Sky Shark may be in Taito's hands, but damn Squenix will probably never let us see these get proper ports.
Kinect? KIN NOT.

Yip, that's the one I was referring to.

I decided not get get it, and get the MD port instead, and haven't regretted the choice. The MD port is absolutely brilliant, and comes with an arranged soundtrack and a whole new arranged game. Plus you can play in RGB (which you can't withthe TV game thingy). If you're a Slap Fight fan, you won't regret shelling out for the MD version!
