RQ: That damn red tank in Mars Matrix

What's the significance of the red tank in the beginning of stage 2 of Mars Matrix? It appears 50% of the time when I play and I never destroyed it or anything. Does it crap gold?

That is just another extra ship that appears if you destroy other (the larger) ships quickly. I don't think it has any special significance, kind of like the kettles and whatever else.
