Gradius Gaiden on emulator?
I want to get Gradius Gaiden, but I only have a US psone and ps2. Instead of buying a Japanese ps1 or ps2, is running an emulator like ePSXe a good option? Anyone tried it with this game? I have a fairly fast computer to run it.
Also, is this a good store and good deal on this game?

Thanks.

I don't use PSX emulators myself so I can't help you there. But for what it's worth, I own a modded PSOne (i paid someone to mod mine, my chip even bypasses U.S. PS1 games that won't run on older mod chips). Unlike the PS2, the PS1 has very reliable mods available. There are many Japanese shooters to make a PS1 mod worth it. I don't own Gaiden yet but yes, that is a very good price for the game. You can also get it new on ebay although you may pay $3-5 more (not counting shipping ect.)

That's exactly what I did. When I first tried running GG under ePSXe, I had horrible problems with the music skipping. That was not so when I ran the game from HD, in which case everything was perfect.Damocles wrote:Then rip it to your HD and just load it from that image.Sly Cherry Chunks wrote:The game seems to run okay in an emulator but I was a bit concerned by the speed at which my PC's CD drive had to spin the disk. After about half an hours play you could've fried an egg on that thing, it was so hot.
Kinect? KIN NOT.

Sorry to bump an older topic, but I just bought gradius gaiden during play-asia's sale, and am having trouble tweaking it for epsxe. Even with the frame limit set to autodetect, the game seems too fast, and ships tend to jump from position to position rather than moving smoothly.
What plugins / settings do you guys use on epsxe?

You could try using pSX. It has lower compatibility than ePSXe but higher accuracy; when it works, it works beautifully. There's very little configuration and no plugins to download either. I haven't tried Gaiden, but it's listed as working on the site's compatibility list.
