RQ: Gradius 3 - difference between lasers

What's the difference between the normal laser (type select 1) and the C-laser (type select 3)?

Ive played this game over the years and i just cant tell any difference apart from the look of it

nor could i find any info on it on the web.

Btw im a new guy, and im pleased to have found a nice community of hardcore shooter fans

the c-laser does 50% more damage

I never noticed any quicker kills with it tho
