Soukygurentai: Differnce between ST-V & Saturn version?

Post by kitkit.com »

I know there is a topic regarding difference among the SS & PSX versions.

Has anyone notice any difference between the ST-V and Sega Saturn version?

Yes, I am the ebay seller who used to carry many import games.
I am also the same person at Neo-geo.com forum.

For kitkit.com,

Well, obviously the ST-V version of Soukygurentai isn't going to have the double-speed CD-Rom loading times of the Saturn version (it's loaded up into the Rom banks anyways since it's in cartridge format)...so loading times are lightning fast and that's what's needed to attract the arcade shmup crowd...get a good set of Japanese Sanwa or Seimitsu joysticks and a pair of three buttons (for each player respectively) and one's all set for some arcade Souky shmup action galore! ^_~

Some reprogramming was essential for Souky (or any ST-V game cart for that matter) to run properly on the ST-V hardware though...

High scores are saved via a "back-up" battery on the ST-V -- same type CR-2032 button cell battery like that found on the Sega Saturn console itself... ^_~

One can either choose to listen to the ST-V Souky cart's BGM tunes and sound effects in mono or stereo (with an optional stereo harness adapter hooked up to the stereo output pinout on the ST-V mobo itself)... ^_~
