Ridiculous...about as insane as the rare (authentic) copy of Kizuna Encounter sold recently for $12,500.
BTW...its a Neo-Geo fighting game.

Well, even before the PS2 compilation you could get the MVS cart for like $35,-
A game magazine here in Germany recently ran an article about the 3 known Euro copies of Kizuna Encounter, including a world map tracing their movements in the last couple of years.
For a Neo Geo collector this is the holy grail.

$1600? Fuck. I think I'd buy some Cave PCBs instead with that sort of money.
You're supposed to be an alien invader wreaking havoc on Earth in this one.
I saw it in a magazine too. It didn't look nearly as hot as RayStorm, RayForce, etc. - in fact I'd say it appears wank.kemical wrote:I feel like I remember seeing preview screens of this game in a magazine long ago.. but maybe not.

Violent Seed by Rabid Entertainment (C) 1997 for PSX...
Ah yes, Violent Seed, this particular PSX shmup title was in development from Rabid Entertainment Inc. team and was supposed to feature seven or eight stages altogether. It strongly reminds me of Taito's Raystorm/RayCrisis shmup titles, also ported to the PSX. An American game publisher was planning to release this Violent Seed in possible late 1997 or early to mid 1998 pending final production game permission from SCEA themselves for sale to the general public. But alas, it did not happen and thus, was never released/finished -- is considered 'vaporware'. ^_~
Interesting that 10 years later, such an alpha-beta version of PSX Violent Seed surfaces up on eBay -- but the asking price is damned too high as it is...
I, too, was looking forward to the release day when Violent Seed finally came out and purchase it but it never surfaced up again from game magazine media radar sources...
One hears a brief write-up about this Violent Seed shmup title back in 1997 with two sample screenshots and poof, it's never heard of again until just very recently.....
This PSX beta shmup title reminds me of another PSX game that was slated for a domestic USA release by the name of Bandai's Macross VFX-2 -- it was finally finished and ready to be sent out for duplicating at a master CD manufacturing plant but at the last second, Bandai of America decided that it would be in their best interest not to release this finished Macross VFX-2 game. The voice-overs were all done in American English language and done in a professional manner. A Japanese contest touted that 1,000 copies of the USA PSX Macross VFX-2 game would be awarded to Japanese natives and they were all distributed as promised. Some tweaks and improvements over the original Japanese PSX version of Macross VFX-2 with this USA version were apparent from the get-go. ^_~
Bandai even placed ads touting it's USA version of Macross VFX-2 in various USA video game magazines to get the word out that it was, indeed, coming out after all...I even inquired at my local Funcoland as to when it was coming out, a tentative February or March 2001 release at best only to cancelled...WTF!?
The USA PSX version of Macross VFX-2 game does exist -- just be willing to pay through the nose for such a rare original copy though..... ^_~
Another cool PSX game from Fox Interactive was "Titan A.E." that was pushing the limits of the PSX hardware with all sorts of cool graphical effects, etc. It, too, was in development but was cancelled by Fox Interactive for reasons only they would know themselves.....

Wow, I never knew about that! Sonyindex.com only list one edition of VF-X 2, though. Do you have a source? I don't think you're lying or anything, but someone just the other day was trying to tell me there was a rare PX1 version of Mega Man 8 that included the Saturn bosses. He turned out to be lying, so I'm a little wary right now of believing something like that without corroboration.PC Engine Fan X! wrote:This PSX beta shmup title reminds me of another PSX game that was slated for a domestic USA release by the name of Bandai's Macross VFX-2 -- it was finally finished and ready to be sent out for duplicating at a master CD manufacturing plant but at the last second, Bandai of America decided that it would be in their best interest not to release this finished Macross VFX-2 game. Re: Violent Seed by Rabid Entertainment (C) 1997 for PSX...
It wasn't really Bandai's choice to make. Macross was steeped in licensing fees in the US and rather than take the huge hit and give a chunk of profit to Harmony Gold, they decided to kill the project. Quite unfortunate, as that was my most anticipated game during that time as well.PC Engine Fan X! wrote:I even inquired at my local Funcoland as to when it was coming out, a tentative February or March 2001 release at best only to cancelled...WTF!?

I do have the original Japanese version of Macross VFX-2 to quell my Macross cravings on the PSX/PSone platforms...fine game as it stands! Even Bandai released such a single stage of USA Macross VFX-2 on the Official Playstation Demo Disc #22 for the USA PSX owners to try out -- awesome demo of what was supposed to be a must-have PSX game title to buy at the time..... ^_~Ganelon wrote:It wasn't really Bandai's choice to make. So does that mean the Macross Zero DVD series won't be released in the USA either?

I remember there being a huge fiasco over the US PS1 release of Dodonpachi. I think A1 Games were the ones trying to bring it over (for a measely $10) but ran into issues with SCEA and in the end, the game wasn't released.sideshow wrote:It sure does suck when a game is announced but never gets released. Take Strider for the SuperGrafx. If that would of came out durying its time, the Supergrafx probably would of had more of a life cycle.

This is major new shmup news for me...it would've been a miracle if A1Games did the impossible in bringing DDP Stateside...the best shmup title that ten bucks can buy for the PSX..... ^_~
At least, there's the budget USA PSX shmup title Gekioh: Shooting King with it's great myriad of mini-shmup games to play with courtesy of Natsume USA..... ^_~
