Indiana Jones 4

Post by Ceph »

Unfortunetaly the man with the hat is not bringing his dad this time:
Sean Connery wrote:I get asked the question so often, I thought it best to make an announcement. I thought long and hard about it and if anything could have pulled me out of retirement it would have been an Indiana Jones film. I love working with Steven and George, and it goes without saying that it is an honor to have Harrison as my son. But in the end, retirement is just too damned much fun. I, do however, have one bit of advice for Junior: Demand that the critters be digital, the cliffs be low, and for goodness sake keep that whip by your side at all times in case you need to escape from the stunt coordinator! This is a remarkable cast, and I can only say, 'Break a leg, everyone.' I'll see you on May 22, 2008, at the theater!

My guess is that they didn't offer him enough money.

I think he's too busy making appearances on Celebrity Jeopardy.

EDIT: Spielberg better not fuck this up.

They have been working on this for like 10 years. At some point even the "Fate of Atlantis" script was being used. Spielberg even joked once that he was afraid that some of the important people behind this (Ford, Lucas and himself) would ending up dying of old age before the movie could be completed.

But at least they finally begun filming :)

This is VERY old news. Funny thing is that that was my initial reaction as well, at the time.

Nah, he is fine. In January 2006 he had surgery to have a benign kidney tumour removed, from which he long since recuperated.

It's sad that as it stands Connery's role in that turkey 'The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen' will have been his last on-screen performance. Not a great way of bidding farewell to a long and successful acting career.

Back to Indy 4, I really hope they do it right. We don't need explosions and insane CGI monsters every other minute.

Wasn't Orson Welles send off as the voice of Unicron in the Transformers movie???

WHAT?? That is some of the best voice acting I've ever heard! IMO, he did an incredible job as Unicron; the depth of his voice as that character was even lower then James Earl Jones as Dart Vader. Not that that movie was the best send off for his career, but I love it, and it wouldn't have been what it was without his awesome voice.

Yeah, and I apologize for getting defensive.

At any rate, I am surprised that Harrison Ford can do this stuff at his age; he must be in pretty good shape, considering all the action that Indy films entail. Then again, I don't know how old he is. But, as a huge Indy fan, I hope this film rocks! I have faith in Spielberg to pull this off right.

He's 65 years old I believe.

What's really incredibly is that I've seen some pictures of him dressed as Indiana Jones, and he aged incredibly well... at least dressed as Indy he doesn't look much different than he looked when he made Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade... like 18 years ago.

I guess we are living a moment for the old chaps. Stallone bringing up Rocky and Rambo back when he's 60 years old (And it has to be said, Rocky Balboa is a very, very fine movie), Bruce Willis pulling a new Die Hard movie at 54 and this...

Han Solo can do anything!!!!!

Bruce Willis is one of those guys that just gets cooler as he gets older. Can't say the same for Sly. The new Diehard opens on 6/29 here. Going to try to sneak out and go see it.

Rocky Balboa is an awesome movie. I am yet to find someone who disliked that movie.

I am not expecting much of Rambo IV. But it seems it's gonna be extremely violent.

I haven't seen it... mainly b/c I know I will hate it. Didn't like any of the Rocky's. I know a big Rocky fan here that thought it was "meh".

But it's got George "We could have rendered Ep I using a PS2" Lucas as producer. I wouldn't count CGI out.

Determining the outcome of RB has nothing to do with liking Rocky movies. It will suck regardless. Please all shmembers do not watch this movie. It's bad. As a matter of fact seeing this movie to the end is more impressive than a 1cc.

hmm.. should we make a separate thread to talk about Rocky?

I am a fan of the Rocky movies indeed... but Rocky 3 was stupid, Rocky 4 was horrible and 5 was bad. Those movies are fun to watch just to see how bad they turned out (while the original was really good).

and "Determining the outcome of RB has nothing to do with liking Rocky movies." seems to come from someone who haven't watched the last movie.

My girlfriend watched the movie with me. She went to theater complaining like "Oh, I am going to watch a movie about one man hitting another, how stupid blah blah blah", and she left saying "Gosh... I was wrong, the movie was really nice..."

Well, whatever, let's talk about Indy :)

Making a Rocky 6 in the 90s would have been horrible.

Making a Rocky 6 at the time they did was perfect.

Yeah, I cried when he gave that speech to his son WHAT WHAT

I even memorized the speech. Great script and perfectly acted by Stallone. This movie is by far his best work as director and one of the best (if not the best) as actor.

While Ford clearly has aged, it's probably nothing that a little dye and some computer-enhancement can't overcome.

(one month ago)

Still, they should have made this movie 15 years ago.
