Haha, I guess so. It's just funny that Kurt was so adamant on getting a certain sound (more Pixies worship), is excited about it after it's played back and then backpedals for whatever reason.

The music tells all. He backpedaled because he was a wishywashy junkie puss. Seen it a thousand times.

That almost makes up for Smashing Pumpkins.

In PaCrappa news: I will no longer be too lazy to go downstairs, browse through my one billion records and bring some back up to listen to. Because last night I practically killt myself moving them all up here! But the downsizing continues and I think I'll go through the questionable stuff first to get anything that can't cut the cake outta here.

New Smashing Pumpkins in about a month. Woohoo! I will enjoy it even if it is mediocre (joke here).

Cat Power - Moon Pix -- Some great songs, some dull ones. Probably a grower.
Oblivians - Play 9 Songs with Mr. Quintron -- Reminds me of SFS a little, but with a lot more holy spirit.
Schnittke - Cello Concerto 2
Reich - Music for 18 Musicians -- Thanks, prof. ganson.
Liszt - Piano Concertos 1 & 2
Berio - Sinfonia
Panda Bear - Person Pitch -- Second half isn't as good, but still pretty good. First few songs are invade my dreams good. As now '07 favorite.

Currently, I'd say my own custom mix album (does it count that it's on an iPod?) consisting of:

Master of Puppets - Metallica
Cherry Pie - Warrant
U Can't Touch This - MC Hammer
Live and Learn - Crush 40
Open Your Heart - Crush 40
Dare to Be Stupid - Weird Al Yankovic
Land of Confusion - Genesis
Land of Confusion - Disturbed
Ultimate Showdown - Lemon Demon
random songs from The Incredible Machine, Sonic 1 through Sonic 3D Blast (Megadrive version,) Gunstar Heroes, DOOM, Starfox 64, Legend of Zelda, and about a million tunes I made myself.
And no pickles! Oh god help you if I find pickles!

I sure do love them Oblivians, but that one I don't have. Is it still just drums and guitar? I seem to recall hearing something from that record and there was an organ? I probably should get it some day.

Yeah, there's an organ, which is Quintron's contribution. It sounds good in the mix.

Okay. I guess I was unaware of Mr Quintron's existence until now. I'm not the biggest organ fan but there is some decent organ rock out there. I'll stay open minded until I've heard it.

You gotta love songs like Tales of Scorched Earth

Cheese, but delicious cheese
Cherry Pie - Warrant
U Can't Touch This - MC Hammer
Hammer's badassity cancels out the hair band

No, I do not. The epic songs and pop-leaning stuff sounds the best on that. The alternarock/metal songs just sound (a lot more) stupid.

But that's what's so great about it. It's guys that aren't metal trying to do metal. D-U-M dumb.

I do love 1979, how can you not? If you're PaCrappa and too macho to like pop I guess...(winky smiley, can't bring myself to click it)

I like that concept, but as you said they are dumb dumb (like truly). I started downloading the song after you mentioned it, listened to a minute and was thoroughly disgusted. The "brutal" repetitive riff, overblown production (shitty vocals and effect yet could still hear Billy's atrocious lyrics). I guess I can understand listening to and laughing at it, but I listened to it in seriousness at the time so it's just revolting now. For me, 1979 ranks just above Thirty Three for the singles. Mildly enjoyable, kind of boring. Dropped a bit in hindsight for signalling Adore.

To me, Silversun Pickups kinda replaced the Pumpkins. But this may be only because I've forgotten why the Pumpkins were cool in the first place.

The doctors told me after the Zwan incident, they were unable to reattach Billy Corgan's testicles.

Here you go. Could not ask for a better opening track than that. And Siamese Dream is more of a full scale rock album with a guitar sound seriously missed in everything that came after. Much less cringe-worthy lyrics, softer/less nasally.

...And Billy had the coolest shirts pre-Zero.

Will not post Adore pictures.

Hot Snakes - Suicide Invoice
Hot Snakes - Audit in Progress
Also got Automatic Midnight, but I haven't listened through yet.

Uzeda - Stella
Uzeda - Different Section Wires
Uzeda - 4

Don Caballero - American Don (this one is becoming one of my all-time favorites)

Siamese Dream is great-- easily the best Smashing Pumpkins I have heard.

szycag wrote:Justice's LP has leaked to soulseek... not out officially til june 11th might be old news but I've had little luck finding it til now, found some other band called justice's lp from 2007 that was totally not dance nor french

Justice is like Daft Punk but louder and dare I say it, consistently better on the whole. Don't get me wrong Discovery is a classic but their other albums struggle with some filler parts... this LP is just so dope I can't even contain it

the album title is a cross, (they have some ironic/bizarro christian theme going on) most people have it labeled as a plus sign, or you can just search 2007

http://www.myspace.com/etjusticepourtous

a taste. album of the year, seriously. seriously.
Yeah, Justice is freaking sweet!! Anything on the Kitsune label has been top quality. But dammit why does all good house music always have to be compared to Daft Punk, even rock bands.

The album with Quintron is top quality.

This thread made me bust out my Oblivions mp3 collection this morning. Cheers, gentlemen!

And this week:

Black Lips - Let it Bloom (again)
Cheater Slicks - Walk Into The Sea (yet again)
Misfits - Walk Among Us
Middian - Age Eternal (picked this up after seeing them the other week. I like.)
Enslaved - Monumension (thanks for the tip, CMoon. I really dig this one.)
The High & Mighty - Home Field Advantage
Plone - For Beginner Piano
The Damned - Damned Damned Damned (30th Anniv. Reissue)

Technically the second. I gave them a quick initial go-through, nothing too thorough.

But Electrelane has an accordion player. How cool is that, one of those things you wish you'd have thought of first

Page France - ...and the family telephone: I feel like this could have been a lot better than it is somehow. Mr. Violin and Dancing Bear is still a wikkit dope track
