I would have broken 500 mil had I not accidentally bombed one of the large dragons in Stage 5 a split second after I killed it with the multiplier (rendering all the multiplier bullets null). Oh well, I'm pretty happy with this run.

Updated the Ultra mode boards. I merged each character's ranking into one chart (that's pretty much all we'll need, I'm sure) for default extends, and a new chart for scores done with extends set at every 80mil. The latter seems very popular in Japan and other parts of Asia, and will be more fun for the vast majority of people out there who don't have the expert skills required to 1CC Ultra on the default settings.

You can change the extend settings in the test menu. You can switch back and forth between the default extends and the every 80mil extend settings as often as you like, as your scores are not deleted when you do this.

Bleh, it's a new start (haven't played ultra for ages, but this is probably the mode I'm going to focus on the most from now on):

Sort of silly I didn't make it past the boss, especially considering I got there with 2 lives and 4 bombs in tow.

This is the most frustrating shmup ever devised. Never have I cursed and smacked the ground in pure, uncontrollable anger so much while playing a game.

The next run after this one I continued at the start of stage 2 and on that credit I made it to the end of stage 4 with a score of 345mil. Too bad you don't start the game with Max power.

That stage is so frustrating. I always mess it up when I have a good stage 2 & 3. Ended stage 3 with 360mil in this run (also had a run with 375mil at the end of stage 3 last night, which I totally messed up in stage 4 as usual).

Nice improvement GJP. Did you get the PCB, or was that 4 hours done in the arcade?

As for the 1up, as far as I can tell, you can bomb and/or die and still get the 1up. I've tried bombing on the midboss, as well as after the midboss, and the 1up always appears.

Keep in mind the 1UP changed locations from ver 1.0 to 1.5. I think the spot it's at now is more difficult but once you pull it off one time you should be able to get it everytime after that.

If you destroy the house with a bomb it won't appear, but if you time it so that you chuck a bomb at the red monster on the ground that is moving upwards, you should be able to take care of most of the threats on-screen to safely dash to the top of the screen and point-blank the house and reveal the extend. I always saved my bombs for this part because if you focus on killing the big monster on the ground as soon as it appears, it's death will remove all the bullets allowing you to run up to the house and point-blank it.

I couldn't find a vid of this, but the 1up is in the last house right before the 2nd large purple dragon descends. It's the house to the left of the enemy with the Bomb. You need to stay on the top of the screen just before it, and rush to the left and up as you blow up the house to reveal the 1up, then move down and start dodging the fire from the large purple dragon. It gets pretty easy with practice, though once in awhile I will miss it in Maniac mode (pretty much never in Original mode though).

Word to both of you. I found it. Got to it twice today. Once, it appeared, and escaped before I could grab it. Second time, I bombed and fucked it up.
