Try using Type C ship. I think it is the best with Type B a close second. You can also try using 2P side because it is supposed to be easier.

Gave it another go;

DEL - 1,455,620 - ALL - C Type P2 side - PCB

I went for all the score I could possibly find. I guess there's more points to be snagged on the 1P side  .

Interesting thing I have noticed and am going to be trying soon.

In the first stage, the asteroids, I seem to get more points with the pea shooter than I do with a powered up gun. I wonder if you get more points for not powering up?

I also seem to get more points with Type A than I do Type C. Type A is weaker and does not have as good as a spread, but I always seem to score better with it. :?

Whoa!! I just noticed something. DEL should be in #1 position.

I am seeing that too
That should be disqualification!

I may try another score with different ship when I get time to play. I was liking the Truxton style ship but may do better with different type

Fixed yet again. I could of sworn SAT version did not keep your score after you continued...

Oh well, JL has been taken off untill things can be cleared up. DEL in number 1 now.

Well, if you look at all the other entries - they all end in 0. In fact ALL scores end in 0 on this game - I've just checked. Plus that score is high, unless he knows some milking techniques.
The score does reset upon continues as you say Ayanami, but something's screwy here :? -> No score can end in 4 on this game.

It can in Strikers 1945 for example. Which would guarantee 4 continues were used. As you know, a lot ot titles since 1995 have this final digit indicator of continue count.
Gekirindan doesn't have it. Nor does it have anything but zeros at the end though.

Had a couple of blasts on this tonight - a good distraction from Mushihimesama.

758,700 - RGC - Stage 4 - Type C (1P) - MAME

Will try to better this at some point.

The whole get more points thing was a bust. I get higher scores some times on asteroids depending if I can get them all before they scroll off screen. Have not been able to top my score or 1cc the damn thing for that matter yet. Soon though...

Any who, scores have been updated!

I was thinking of picking up Taito Memories Gekan for the PS2, which contains Gekirindan. Does anyone know if it is a good port?

Probably does not have the stop and loads the SAT port has, but I don't think you have TATE options in the Taito compilations. SAT port is the way the go IMO. It has arranged music and TATE. The only odd thing is it has to stop for a few seconds and load right before you fight a boss. :?

Don't think I'll bother with the PS2 version then. Thanks Ayanami.

The flickery graphics of the Taito Legends 2 PAL-version is absolutely horrendous. Im gonna switch to Mame as soon as I get my new pad.

1,059,120 - Javel - Stage 5 - Type B (1P) - PS2

So no extra life/pointbased extend in the whole game? :?

Edit:

1,253,840 - Javel - Stage 5 - Type B (1P) - PS2

I really need one more life to be able clear this one. There must be some damn good milking spots in this game seeing as Ayanamis score is almost 200 k ahead of mine, and this run was no miss up until the first form of the last boss.

I suspect 4th boss would be a good spot, but milking the bosses in this game for half an hour is not my idea of fun. (and I won´t be able to do it either...)

Theres a 1UP-icon at the bottom of this page:

http://www.taitolegends2.com/game.aspx? ... EA890B1163

Know anything about that?

@javel - Yes there's a collectable 1UP towards the end of the game.....I think? I don't know the trigger.

As for the Boss milking on this game, I haven't figured it out either :? .

Cheers,

Got rammed before stage 4 midboss, so I had to deal with shitty shot power for stage 5 >_>

btw 2p side seems to have higher shot power

Just got the U.S. version of Taito Legends 2. So far, I think this is my favorite game on it.
