Those purple explosions remind me of R-Type Final's underwater creatures blowing up. I wonder if that was the inspiration.
I think some space garbage or flying through some kind of space station with fast-moving beams in the foreground would have probably helped level 1. But, that boss? Mmm.
It's interesting to hear from some people from Japan! Welcome to the forum!

yeah i could stomach it till I saw the bosses.... especially the 1st one.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

It's as I feared despite remaining optimistic. Looks like Thunder Force VI refuses to die but became a undead, shambling corpse of its former self sans the music. Oh well, their resources would have been better spent trying to re-release Hyper Duel or something....
And the Japanese really are pissed. Some of the ascii pics on 2chan threads about it have been hilarious:

Broken Thunder has only been released today that Garow and Co. have already a new game planned for release on the 3rd August 2007! It's gonna be called:postman wrote:Thank you makopico, the word KUSOGE is now in my vocabulary.......Broken Thunder is correct and excrement game though a trivial game is said, "KUSOGE-(Excrement Game)"

Hehe, kinda funny to see all the people who are usually in the "it's all about the gameplay! Screw the graphics" camp now going all out after seeing some blurry youtube vid.
Yeah, the first boss is ridiculous IF it really is supposed to be some kind of mech/robot. At first I thought it would be some kind of strangely shaped ship, but then oh well...
If it's really that bad why did they release it then?! I mean the big advantage of doujin is that you don't have any publisher holding a gun to your head telling you to get the thing done. I somehow suspect some kind of "high ambitions turned into frustration" tragedy here. Releasing the intro clip and therefore creating unrealistic expectations was surely a mistake imho. I'd still like to play it...for free.

Indeed, I noticed the same. The first thing that popped into my head after watching the vids was "Man, I hope the game's got harder difficulties".Necronom wrote:Hehe, kinda funny to see all the people who are usually in the "it's all about the gameplay! In any case, I'm still waiting for Himeya to ship my copy.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

I don't know about you, but I can tell if a game is uninspired simply by looking at videos of it. If I come across a turd I know it is a turd even without tasting it first. It's the magical power of observation.Necronom wrote:@Ceph
So you have played it already, right?
This game clearly has クソゲー written all over it.

Comment from a Japanese guy at youtube:

TF fans in Japan are disgusted in same feelings as the event of "DAIKATANA" though the scale is different. It is really sad.
The unfinished article was sold.
And, it was a text and it existed in the disk , saying that "The unfinished article, permit".
It turned down the thing completely until the release date. There is seem to being able no expectation , saying that "Correspond by the update" though it was.

Re: KUSOGE-
I wasn't able to pre-order this, although even with these initial reactions, I still wish that I had. I did watch the stage 2 video and it reminded me a lot of what I saw of Airrade Air, to the extent that I felt myself wanting to see some cute sprites and hear some bouncy music.
(I've still not yet played any TF games, but that second stage and its music seemed like they were from two different worlds, of course for a lot of reasons. It's like the world is going to explode when they meet, though they already did.)
Still, the game could be pretty fun to play. Those videos could indeed be from easy mode, although it seems that a lot of people in Japan (who I guess have played it) are not very pleased. I should probably watch the first stage video so that I know how the player ended up with all of those different weapons in the second stage, but I'll wait a while in case I do get the game. (I'm simply not sure if my PC will be able to play it.)
Also, is that music in the videos basically the intended Thunder Force VI music? If so, then that's pretty weird to think about.
I was kind of hoping that sword attack would be more like Kim's Shikigami attack in Shikigami no Shiro, or something similar... more in terms of movement control than persistence, as in, I thought that it would maybe rotate in a particular direction when the ship moved.

All Japanese fans are disappointed.
Does this mean that they intentionally sold the game without finishing what they wanted to do with it, and stated this on the package? (Or, disc.) That sounds kind of like a questionable practice, especially if I'm understanding correctly that no updated is planned (or is there?).Ceph wrote:Comment from a Japanese guy at youtube:
